Weird Y10 error message, any idea?

Hello, I have 06 CLK500. Today I went to local indie shop for motor mount and sway bar link change. They changed sway bar and passenger side mount, but they were stuck for driver side mount. They are not Mercedes specialists. Since it was almost closing time they said come back later and they will remove subframe to change driver side. After leaving the shop, I felt steering wheel is super stiff. I scanned the code and yes, I got the error code. It saids C1014 State: Current Y10( SPS... Weird Y10 error message, any idea?

Transmission Control Unit

In order to check for a minor leak possibly coming from the transmission control unit, I would look for the unit on the driver's side? No lift, so I will have to crawl underneath the car. I really think the tiny leak is coming from the torque converter plug, but.... I checked to see if there was any fluid in the TCU and it is dry. Thanks

Remote key or Spare key with chip cut and programmed.

Hello Everyone. I'm a locksmith in Phoenix Az. Recently acquired a Kr55 with optional Scan PCF7935 upgrade. With this setup a customer can mail me either a flip key with remote, or just a regular key for most models(with working chip in it,) that can start their vehicle. With this I can make either a spare flip key with programmed chip and working remote, or a spare key with just a programed chip and no remote. Spare key will be programmed with key blade cut same day as receiving, and... Remote key or Spare key with chip cut and programmed.

Is it possible to modify the tandem pump to make the ADS rise and lower faster?

Diverter valve

I found the diverter valve just like the first image below and got the second image to replace it Do you think this is a problem with the Turbo? Do you think this would through a code and check engine light? Do you think this is causing the turbo to roar and moan when I get my foot off the gas pedal? I bought an after market blow off valve for replacement in the image below, Do you think it will fix the issue. I have not receive it yet

Weird problem... no instruments / accessories car running

Hi been having this problem for about a year. Sometimes the car will start and run normally but accessories are dead. No speedometer, no rpms, no turn signals, no a/c, etc. If I restart the car accessories come back on. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the key fob or the ignition switch?!?! Why because sometimes I insert the key fob and I am unable to turn it (and no. it's not the steering wheel locking). I have to then reinsert the fob for it to "register" with the car. Also... Weird problem... no instruments / accessories car running

Sirius making my radio shut off and re-boot

A little background - My 2009 radio can works perfectly until Sirius pushes 184 channels on to it. Then is re-boots every 45 seconds. Stop Sirius and it works perfectly again. Today - Just got off the phone with a worthless Sirius tech. I tried to explain to her that my radio (2009) can only accept 140 channels and I needed to be put into a "protected" tier. She kept telling me that my radio could accept 184 channels. She pushed the signal (again) and the radio keeps re-booting every 45... Sirius making my radio shut off and re-boot

A little background -

My 2009 radio can works perfectly until Sirius pushes 184 channels on to it. Then is re-boots every 45 seconds. Stop Sirius
and it works perfectly again.

Today -

2001 E320 4matic wagon rear engine seal

Hey everyone, I've got to take my car into an indy, I'm on a gravel driveway making dropping a transmission pretty difficult. Rear engine seal is shot and last place she's leaking. I did the valve/breather covers last year. Aside from the rear seal that I've been nursing for the past year and a half, is there anything else in there I should switch out when doing the job? Turned off twice randomly(No codes)

Hello everyone, I have had my 05 E500 just over a month, it's been doing fine till today, I was driving home today and right when approaching a red light, the car just shut off! I turned it back on, It turned on ok, it cranked really slow but luckily turned on. Then, I reached home about 5 miles later right when pulling on my driveway, it cut off again, and same way turned on but cranked a bit slow, I pulled up the battery VB display on dash and it showed 13.8-14V at idle, its weird, the car... Turned off twice randomly(No codes)

Climate control (Heat) issue on 2016 S212

First off, I would like to thank everyone in advanced, as I have already been using the forums for a while (I Joined last year when i got a 1974 C107) But this first post is due to my (new to me) 2016 E350 4Matic Wagon. Car was previously a CA/AZ car, so not sure how long this might have been an issue for the previous owners, but living in WI, I need the heat to work properly . How to remove intake manifold brake vacuum port

I want to remove the plastic port that is attached to the rear of the M113 intake manifold. I suspect that the plastic port is a pressed fit. Has anyone removed this plastic port? Note that I have removed the cap (#23), the lock (#17), and the seal (#11). I want to remove the remaining plastic piece that sits inside the intake manifold.

I had a check engine light go on my 2019 C300 with 60000 miles. It was on for 2 weeks while I was waiting for my appointment to bring it in. It's a lease and it's due back next month. I brought the car to the dealer and they had it all day yesterday and today and they said light was not on and there were no codes that suggested there was anything wrong with the car. Bluetooth for a 2006 CLK 500

The car currently has an after market Parrot system which is dead and cannot be repaired. The car does not have the feature that allows the MB Converter for Bluetooth to be installed. What after market system do you recommend that I should install ? ( I do not want to change the look of the interior and I don't want AirPlay)

SL600 fluttering rpm mystery - help!

I am having a problem with my 2004 sl600 (71k) that so far hasn't been able to be diagnosed, even after 3 weeks at one of the best INDY shops in NC. The problem is: When driving at a constant speed between 30 and 60 mph I can feel a very small momentary surge(or braking depending on how you look at it). It's varies from very slight to mildly pronounced. I can see the tach fluttering a tiny bit - barely enough to detect, when this happens. Otherwise it runs starts and runs excellently... SL600 fluttering rpm mystery - help!

Battery replacement 2010 S550

Is replacing the system battery (in the truck, not the auxiliary one) is a DIY task. I don't want to lose all of my settings if I disconnect the old battery. Or, should I have a professional mechanic do it? Thanks

We all know that sooner or later the li'l flaps (covering the hole where the c-style 'bone' stands with the roof up) fail and snap off. I decided not to wait for trouble and take stuff apart. Sure enough cracks had indeed emerged in the flaps' hinges. Rubber bands, furniture hinges, there's numerous solutions to be found in- and outside the forums. I opted for a German proposition: a steel flange with brass lined hinges (talk about going the extra mile..). The positioning of the metal rod... Little flaps - another solution

So I picked up a pretty clean 93 300D coming up on 2 years ago. Put 17K miles on it since I got it, only thing it's needed is oil changes. Fantastic vehicle. That said, one thing that I've just dealt with on it is the climate control system. It's either blowing an inferno or an arctic blast. There is no middle ground, So the temperature wheel ends up being hot or cold and I just toggle it on or off as needed. Which sounds worse then it actually is. EC does work where you get air... Electrical Oddity

The light in my passenger footwell isn't working, even with a new fixture. I tried the fixrure that DOES work from drivers side, but when moved to passenger footwell no-go, won't work. Here's where it got weird: When I hooked up my multimeter on psngr side I got right around 12, but when I pushed in the plunger switch in the door jam to imitate the door closing, the multimeter stayed at right around 12, light did NOT come on either way. On the driver's side, the SAME LIGHT FIXTURE works... Electrical Oddity

2005 clk500 catalyic converter removal

hello, looking for some advice on how to remove the pass side exhaust. I need to replace my started and am having trouble accessing the manifold bolts on the cataylic converter, My 1/2in and 3/8in drives won't fit I don't know if I need to take something off or what to do. Clk 430 back bumper on a 2005 e 320

Hello. I recently had my bumper fly off while driving cause i think someone taped it and knocked it off and set it back up so i wouldnt notice and once i hit 100 on the high way that thing fly away with the wind but A new one cost upwards of $500 so i went to the junkyard nearest and found only one Mercedes. Hello everybody, i have a question about pulling codes from a MAS Module on a 1990 W126 300SE with the X11/4 8 Pin Connector. My problem is, that when i purchased the car in 2020 the KOEO Duty Cycle was 70% (as it should be). Now it is 50% static, but when the engine is warm it is fluctuating as it should. 1982 380 SL Too many miles ?

My 1982 380sl has 165,000 miles on it. It was a one owner before I got it and the body is excellent. The leather interior has some cracks in the seats but in general the car looks good. The single timing chain was recently replaced and so was the fuel pump and radiator. It has had a major tune up with all the plug wires replaced. New tires and some other minor parts replaced. Replacing/ Repairing 1989 300SE radio

I just got a 1989 300SE. The previous owner had somehow managed to activate the anti-theft system on the radio, as it is showing all dashes across the display no matter what I do. Also, the powered antenna won't extend. First, is there anything I can do to repair the stock radio before replacing it? I would prefer to keep it as that is likely the most cost effective, and already have a FM transmitter. Is the broken radio causing the antenna to not extend? Second, I have read a little about... Using Wood Blocks When Lifting Car?

Hi guys, I bought a 5 ton bottle jack and 4x 3 ton stands for my W140 a month ago but have yet to use them - gonna do a coolant flush this week. My question today since I do like to baby my stuff in every sense of the word; is it safe to put wood blocks between the jack / jackstands and car to prevent "damage" to the chassis that may cause rust or whatever down the line? Steering wheel not returning to center

I have a base model CLS550 2011, I've had this issue with the steering ever since I bought the car from a dealer. I bought it used but didn't notice the problem at the time. When I turn on a corner the steering wheel doesn't return to center like it should, it does so but very slowly, to the point I have to bring it back or hit the curb. Hey what's going on. I recently got a 2006 s600 the other day. It was in pretty rough shape cosmetically, but I have it almost new again. the issue is that I seen there was a taillight out, being the lower left bulb, in the passenger side. Hi. I have a problem but i don't know where to start. To start, i got "roof not latched" and windows wouldn't fully close. With the help of another thread, i got it sorted. The windows fully close but the warning is back with beeps and today i'm getting intermittent warnings about roof not latched, bonnet not closed, ABC, ABS, all accompanied by beeps and then all of a sudden, they go and the dash is back to normal. Unwanted Downshift to manual mode, unable to shift up or down

the car will automatically kick down into lower gears and downshift on its own into manual mode even though the car is still in drive. the car will not upshift. The only way to clear this while driving is to place the shifter in neutral and then back into drive. There is no common thing I am doing that creates this condition, it will shift and drive normally then all of a sudden it just downshifts by itself. my car is c180 2013

Help wanted to visually diagnose PSE pump components

My PSE pump has never worked as long as I've had my 300SE (10 months now). I disassembled the pump and the motor is definitely toast, with carbon dust everywhere. But I also wonder about the condition of some of the other components inside that pump housing. For example, it looks like I'm missing a black plastic screw in the area circled in red below: And for the black plastic screws that are there, the distance between the screw and the two... Euro Headlight conversion

The headlights in my '91 190e don't look that great and I've been looking to get them replaced. I've done some research on converting to the European style solid lamp. Please keep in mind that I am NOT a handyman or for that matter, pretend to be a mechanic of any sorts. I'm lucky enough to know an ex-Mercedes trained guy that knows these cars inside and out. My car is in awesome shape with low kilometres, drives like a dream, etc etc. I just want to spiff it up a bit with the headlight... Euro Headlight conversion

Mog Encounters

Having just moved to the Northern part of B.C .I had pretty well put off seeing a Square Cab Mog.(or any mog at all)...But as I stopped to make a turn into town a very, very nice Mog rolled by,,I was going the same direction so I followed for a bit and was pleasantly surprised when this mog made a stop at a local eatery..Not being shy i pulled up close by to say hello.. New to S430

Hello, I've just purchased a 2000 S430 that has been taken care of by a little not so old lady and maintained very nicely. I apologize in advance for such a rudimentary question, but here goes. The car when previous owner bought the car it only had one license plate on the back. When I looked at the front bumper there were no signs of a front plate mount no holes in the bumper. I did a ebay check on front license plate mounts and they appear necessary to drill a couple holes for wood screw... New to S430

Best leather conditioner?

Basking in the beauty of my new to me '89 300SE with 32k miles. Understanding why so many people are on this site - These cars are amazing. I just want to shut the doors a few times/day for the aural pleasure alone. But I digress/am preaching to the choir. Anyway, the Brazil (chocolate brown) leather interior is in excellent shape, but it could use a conditioner. Reading about a lot of options. This leather is pretty dark so I don't want to use anything that will make it look hazy... Best leather conditioner?

After 400,000 miles, the speedometer on my 1982 280GE was jumping, clicking and burring - if that is a sound - and the odometer had stopped working. Removal is very easy, and I took it to Robinson Instruments in Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand, a specialist in rebuilding instruments, notably VDO. It was ready five days later and the total bill, including 15% tax was NZ$291 (US$166). The tech said he had to take it apart three times to fix... Recommendation: Robinson Instruments Auckland NZ

SL600 ABC error

I just took delivery of a pristine, low mileage 04 SL600. When it came off the delivery trailer, the white SBC "visit workshop" error was on. The seller says he has never seen that error. Is this possibly due to the 1000 mile trailer ride or is this something serious? Is there anyway to reset without Star?

How To Prevent Water Intrusion in "Blind Spot Assist"

Anyone have a solution to protect the "Blind Spot Assist" from the elements? Mine has been replaced 4 times. I live in Minnesota. The system is subject to harsh conditions several months of the year. Wet, Frozen, Ice, Salt, Brine. I am trying to come up with something that could shield it. Any ideas? I've thought of large mud flaps, covering the detectors and it's connection harness with a plastic shield, or covering it all in silicon caulking. The system just doesn't handle the harsh... R107 ‘81 380SL No Dash Lights

I've been restoring an '81 380SL for several months and it's finally roadworthy after fuel delivery system replacement, tank screen and sending unit replacement, rear shocks, springs and sway bar links, and linkage bushings. I just discovers that the dash instrument lights don't work, and the odometer works sometimes but not all the time. The question I have is whether the instrument panel is pressed in and removable from the front after removing the steering wheel without removing screws.

Grey box in trunk?

I was going to take a picture and forgot but I'm guessing this one will be so simple that someone who knows what it is can answer me without a picture. In the very front of the trunk down in the spare well, sitting in front of the spare is a grey box. About 8-10 inches wide, 5 inches front to back, and 3 or so inches thick. Has an unusual looking cable connected on one side and sits in a black plastic frame that holds it up off the floor. Right over the drain plug actually. I did a couple of... Grey box in trunk?

U1700 transmission re-assembly

Hi everyone. I've got my gearbox away for a rebuild (eventually I could not get 5th and 6th). When I mate the gearbox back up with the transfer case, I have to first refit the main transfer gear (I think its also called Transfer Case Input Gear) and the two tapered roller bearings on it, into the transfer case. There is provision behind the Transfer Case End Cover to fit shims to pre-load the big bearing. I think the end-flat is 0.06mm +/-.02mm. I have feeler gauges, but an unsure how to... 2012 C250 suddenly has multiple issues with sensors, gauges, wipers, etc.

Hey everyone. My 2012 C250 suddenly started having a plethora of issues that I have no idea where to start with solving. My symptoms are intermittent but are beginning to happen more frequently. All of my gauges rapidly shift up and down between the correct reading and zero. This includes engine temp, speed, and rpm. All the while this is happening I'm getting alarms notifying me that cruise control, abs, and tire pressure sensor are all inoperable. M276 NA High Pressure Fuel Replacement Pump Steps and Required Resets- Help Please

I followed this video how to get to, and remove the pump: I have just performed the PCV Valve parts replacement, which is a major pain in the neck requiring the partial removal of the High Pressure Fuel Pump. Unfortunately, my GLK350 (M276 NA) will not start immediately after "finishing" work. The engine turns over, and even seems to spark for a second, but never idles.
