Reorganizing SUV forums

With our local administrator's help, Teutone, he was able to bring some organization to the SUV forums. There are a couple of minor tweaks to be made. We are aware the V167 is actually the improper nomenclature for the latest GLE. It is supposed to be W167/V167. The V167 refers to the Australian model GLE which is approx. 2.5" longer than the rest of the versions. We're working on fixing that. Greetings all My cabin aspirator fan (the one next to the AC switches) is very noisy - buZZZZZes continuously like an angry Bee.🐝🐝🐝 I've read somewhere that the cause is either dirt / dust ingress or a rattling plastic casing which can be cleaned / secured, but it's NOT recommended to squirt lubricant in there (as it will mess up the electrics?). Starter 'tap, tap' Question

Most car guys that have been in the hobby for a while know of the 'tap, tap' trick to get a starter to engage. My newly-acquired 2001 SL600 has failed to start on 3 occasions in maybe the last 50 starts. And when I say failed to start, I mean turn the key, everything powers up -- lights, horn, everything works -- and then nothing. Silence. how can I reset Service A message?

I have searched and none of the procedures found on this site nor on Youtube work for my 2009 SL550. Several videos are labeled for 2009 SL550 and show a completely different steering wheel than mine. Currently, the message says "Service A exceeded by 5 days". Can anyone give me the exact steps for my car? Thanks.

NO clock adjustment, non operative cd, Options????

Good morning all, Tried to update time last week, could not! Cd stopped reading since last fall. I tried to reach out via the Fix thread, unfortunately it is closed. Dealer offered fix via cd player, no luck there. So!!!!! Could the update be done through mp3 player? I'm assuming it is basically a card reader. If not, any thoughts or suggestions as to possible fixes? Also looking for options on cd player!! No sure if there are any. I have great respect for all of you who contribute... 14 Digit VIN

Hi all I recently acquired a 1991 230E W124 and has a 14 digit VIN on my registration papers. I had a look around the dash board, but couldn't find a VIN number anywhere. I also had a look on the driver side doors. There I found a number that's not the same as the VIN on the registration papers and also don't have the three letters before the numbers. My VIN number is 1240236B351262 Should I just add WDB before the numbers?

Hello, i have blind-purchased on auction cheap 1990 SL300, car is in poor condition but is complete and SHOULD be running and driving, i would like to make it as small project and slowly put it together, im unable to even start the engine after delivery:-( From what i have read i think it has to be unloacked with remote control, without it wont start, correct? Thats the problem - remote control does not work at all.. I have fully charged vehicles battery, changer the battery at remote but... r129 engine start problems

I bought a non-running 1987 560sl with a 147k as an educational/mechanics car and I am determined to get it running. I have a beautiful 89 560sl which I love. Background Since I acquired it 5 months ago, I replaced: Fuel tank, and all components in the fuel delivery system (pumps, filter, etc.) and blew out the fuel line to fuel distributor Crankshaft position sensor, coil, distributor cap, and rotor – I have spark at each cylinder Compression is good in each cylinder... Plastic cap at the hinges where door is mounted on car

Hi checking by brand new w206, i just saw there is a plastic cap on each hinge that each door mounted on the car. I took one off by simply pulling it and underneath there is a torx screw that is being covered by the plastic where the paintwork is really badly broken like the screw has been unscrewed. This is the same the situation at all hinges, two per door, 8 in total. So i guess that it is normal something from production process where they need to screw unscrew the bolt to remove and... Whirl flaps - some engines have sensor for the linkage position?

My friend has issues with whirl flaps. I noticed that some of the linkage has sensors to recognize the location of the linkage - obviously. Do these sensors make any problems, if I disconnect the linkage motor and the flaps will be open all time? (I am going to use 4,7 kOhm resistance the at the end of the cable to emulate the motor.) The car is MERCEDES-BENZ R-serie (W251, V251) R 320 CDI 4-matic (251.022, 251.122) Diesel 224 hv

My friend has issues with whirl flaps. I noticed that some of the linkage has sensors to recognize the location of the linkage - obviously.

Soft Close Trunk

When i open my trunk it makes a hydraulic sound. If i disconnect the battery and reconnect it works for 2-3 tries then stops. The trunk release works from driver door. But when i close it the soft close doesnt kick in. i have taken out the pump and sprayed epoxy where I thought the leak was but no luck. Should I just replace or is it something else? 2004 SL500

ML350 Radiator Fan is on high speed

I have 2006 ML350 and the radiator fan is on high speed and making noise like a jet engine even thought the engine is not hot (85 degree outside). I took it to dealer and the service adviser told me that it is a normal that Mercedes models have loud fan noise and everything checked out OK. The high fan speed occurs after I drove for about 20 to 25 minutes. Once the fan is on high speed, it does not change to lower speed. 1978 450SL starts but wont run

Will start with generous use of starter fluid and manually pumping the pressure regulator (little flap under air cleaner?), but cuts instantly if given more then a feather of gas. It will drive and you can slowly move it around but only if you barely give it any gas. What would be the best place to start on making it do not that? Thank you!

Orange two wires for radio

The Radio in my car stopped working after I had done an extensive work throughout the car. After watching a few videos, I bought a fiber optic loop and placed the female and male connectors in the connector that is located on the right wall of the right footwell as in pic. The radio works now. What is the function for these two orange wires and how can I tackle the issue from here. The command wheel does not work to select station. does the orange color wires have to do anything with it?

Hi, Found a roof shop that is willing to repair the water pockets/elastic straps issue on my 209 CLK 500 Cabriolet. Although not split the rubber seal around the rear window the roof edge pulls in to is rather stiff being 19 years old. Pretty sure a new rubber trim would help the roof to fit more easily. Anyone know the part number and does it come as a kit? Cheers

Today I went to the local dealer and had the transmission oil and filter replaced (Whew BIG BUCKS), but I am a DIY'r and saved enough on the full brake replacement and oil change to take it. But the good (?) thing was my local dealer does a full inspection - unlike the phony dealer In Scottsdale, AZ I bought it from. The items weren't too bad, but they did say the front shocks were leaking and I should think about replacing them. I've been searching and can find struts and strut... 2010 Mercedes Benz E350 stalls. Starts, runs for a few seconds and then dies.

P0108 P008B P0410 , Those are the codes that come out. I changed the MAP sensor but the problem is still the same. The car dies immediately after starting.

Intake manifold code 07 w203 c230 sport

Got a code stating that my intake manifold runner was stuck, along with the check engine light of course. Car still ran although rough almost like a misfire. Reaching out to get any advice on weather I should try and fix the part or replace the entire manifold? Missing O2 sensor??

i bought a new bosch o2 sensor - the car has 95,000kms and the exhaust smells a bit rich sometimes. i do drive it aggressively but even so it really likes to drink so i figured it was due for a change! long story short - it turns out there is no o2 sensor . i can see the connector on the inside of the transmission tunnel and it looks like someone simply sheared off the cables when they fitted some kind of replacement exhaust system. the system has the exhaust manifold pipes... 07 CEL and code… camshaft magnets?

So my 07 started randomly throwing on the CEL, it goes off sometimes and stays off for a day then comes back on stays on for many days, goes off again. It has a "stored" 0060/P0015 code. I've noticed a shake when I'm at a light or stop sign that disappears once I give it a little gas. Sometimes it's worse than others. From searches on Google and here on the benz forums, I've gathered that my engine numbers is above 088611 it's 127847 so it's above the "affected" range in regards to the... 07 CEL and code… camshaft magnets?

Check Engine light - MAP

My check engine light came on today so I hooked up the blinker and checked my codes. I got the following: Port 3 - DM 23: Intake manifold pressure sensor signal incorrect, too high/low Port 14 - CC/ISC 2: Cruise control/idle speed control module 3: Cruise control/idle speed control actuator 5: Stop lamp switch 11: Fuel safety shut-off to LH-SFI control module I have replaced all the wiring and a bunch of other stuff as discussed in some of my... Today, I removed the cluster gauge, to change some bulbs, and after I put it all together again, the SRS light stayed ON. I had no time to play with it, knowing it wasn't gonna do much harm for the time being, and drove home. On the way home the light turned off. After I restated the engine, just to check, the SRS light stayed on again. Then on the 2nd. attempt, the SRS light came ON, then OFF, as usually, but then it turned ON again. 2000 E320 Wagon Rear Running Lights Not Working

Door lights on & off

Fuel smell in cabin. (SLC 2016)

Hi all, I've recently purchased a SLC 200 petrol car. There Is a smell of fumes when I start the car but it is really strong when I slow down or stop. I had a garage change the fuel filter and check the fuel lines yesterday but that hasn't made any difference. What could be the problem? please help!

Keyless Go Knob Stuck

Hello, first i`m from germany, my english is quite not good. I have a little problem on my 2004 S350 with Keyless Go. It has stock a Leather shift knob, but i replaced it with a Wood shift knob. This wood shift knob stucks, so i changed the Button from my other shiftknob ( stock leather ) but nothing changed. Oil burning smell after Stop

m112 V6 New Harmonic Balancer Job is complete....learned a lot !

Well, the new Harmonic Balancer - the Corteco one is now installed along with new 27mm bolt. The removed unit was def the OE part from 22 years & 240,000 miles ago. I suppose it COULD have been a replaced unit from the recall - but it DID have the old style 17mm Inset Hex head on it. Can anyone say IF MB used that design Crankshaft bolt for recall jobs or would it have been the newer 27mm Normal Hex head bolt ? I gave up on using standard 1/2" tools - after snapping off an adaptor &... m112 V6 New Harmonic Balancer Job is complete....learned a lot !

M103 Head Gasket.

Hello, I have a 1992 M103 2.6 in my W201 190E and I am not sure if my head gasket is leaking or its something else because I am only burning oil. the oil and coolant are not mixing. If you look on the left side of my block you'll see oil although it's not leaking. I do not know what this could mean.

Stuck down Rear passenger Window clk 500 2005

Could some please explain how I can pull the rear passenger window up , I was at a dealership test diving a car and the salesmanager checked the car out , unfortunately he put the window down and it will not go up. Small portion is visible . Thank You for any help , do not need to replace regulator , just want the window up , until we trade it in, I m not mechanically inclined to replace the regulator, however I think I can remove the door panel to access the window. Thanks again .

US to Euro bumper completed. Next Injectors replacements

Hello everybody I just finished to install/convert the US to Euro bumper (Vietnam kit). I love the new original style look. Installation was a pain in the a%$# since the kit comes with zero instruction. was frustrating , but again here is the end results. Next, I know I have vacuumed leak. I run the smoke test and found smoke coming from the injectors.. time to replace the injectors. Hi all, my first post so please be kind. I have a 2017 Mercedes A160 Whiteart Executive Edition with the AMG pack, fully loaded with extras. The Eco/Start stop has stopped working and I've checked the main battery (as no aux battery on this vehicle). After putting a meter on the battery it is only holding at 12.2V and goes down as low as 11.3V under load so I have been advised to replace the battery. Seat Issue

I have a 2014 C250 and just did a deep clean removing the seats and now have this code popping up on the dash. "Front Left Malfunction Service Required" with a picture of the seat with airbag. Is this something I can clear or do I need to take to the dealer?

Headliner repair

I was told yesterday by a Mercedes mechanic that when removing the headliner (raising the hardtop slightly to a balance point), you have to put the hardtop in "standby mode", or the hydraulic pump will keep running and burn out! Is this correct, and if so, how do you put it in this standby mode?

1990 420 SEL - randomly cuts out while driving

Recently took ownership of the car after my parent had owned for 28 years (190k kms). It had been largely parked for 2-3 years prior to me taking it on. Drove it 1500 kms home without hitch. Once home it randomly cuts out. Driving along and engine and power die and the yellow light in middle of dashboard goes on. 90% of the time if i put it into neutral and turn key it will start again. Hi All! I'm considering a new GLC. Coming from a C300 Sport with staggered low profiles am I going to hate the body roll on this vehicle? I live in the mountains with plenty of winding roads (that I enjoy) but unable to test drive the GLC in my area when the dealer is an hour and a half away. Lastly, any other positive or negative input on the GLC is greatly appreciated.

Intermittent Power to Fuel Pump Fuse?

Hey guys, New to the forums and praying someone can help me out on here. I have a 2000 E430 4Matic and I'm getting a crank but no start. To start off we had noticed a leak coming out of a connector on the fuel pump where it cracked, we replaced it, took it for a test drive and it died on me a mile down the road. Replaced it again, it started up and I was able to drive it home. The next morning I let it warm up before heading to work and it stalled out and hasnt fired up any longer than a few... Aside from the oil leaking into the coolant, I have no other reason to replace my head gasket. Is it necessary on these cars to mill the head to do this replacement??? Also, where can I find information for TDC timing??? ANy advice on pulling/replacing the timing chain. I have only done belts in all my years. Otherwise my W124 has been a GREAT car. (Besides the analog clock not working. LOL)

Check engine has been coming on and off intermittently and recently has been on. Cleared the codes yesterday and CEL came on shortly after and today I am showing following codes: P200C-1/P2096 - Right O2, before Cat P20C2-4/P0141 - Right O2, after Cat P2010-4/P0140 - Right O2, after Cat P2083-4/P0160 - Left O2, after Cat I believe both of the Post Cat O2 sensors have been replaced by Bosch units between 4 - 8 years ago Original threads... Hi all! With a friend, we have stripped a w 211 e 55 AMG and we installed the engine/tranny on a tubular frame chassis. We kept the key fob, the ECU, The TCM, the SAM module, The cluster and the car start. The only problem is that we can not have access to the dyno mode because of the brake warning on the cluster (error reduced braking power) So I want to know if there is another way to activate the dyno mode? (by the obd, remap ...) Thanks, Serge.

So I wanted to get a FGSM for my 87 420SEL, but they are nowhere to be found. It seems that the wiring is really simple for the feature, as my car has a stock kickdown solenoid. From what I understand, all that needs to happen is 12v signal needs to trigger that kickdown circuit. The issue is that a normal switch won't do as you will have to manually do it every time. The stock FGSM from the older cars upshifted at about 7mph. Now I was thinking I could make an Arduino board do the same... DIY First Gear Start Module

After having dome my timing chain, guide, tensioner etc on my gen 2 500 sec I found two hydraulic lifters were slightly loose so torqued them to around 60nm maybe a touch more. prior to start up 2 years ago the car was very quiet, after tightening the hydraulic lifters and starting up im getting a constant ticking sound, can also hear it clearly in the downpipe dont know why it is more amplified in the downpipe. hi there i have w208 CLK Convertible and the soft top does not oparate electrically, the rear head rests are raised and i can lower them now either, i took it to Merc Dealers and they said its the roof pump motor that need replacing, they quoted me £2900 to get it done there, do anybody know if the pump can be repaired or if or it could be somethng else to do with in the pump that must have gone? please help Thank You

ML350 2006 not starting.. help pls .

My Ml350 4matic refuse to start when I turn the key on ignition.. all lights and gear works .. no crack no start . I have check all fuse and all are fine .. kick starter is working fine too… my obd scanner refuse to scan it . Help pls .

Looking for 4 Backseats in last row

Hello from Germany, i have a w906 and would like to put 4 Seats in the last row. In germany they only put 3. Does anybody know were i can get 4 Seated row? I heard that in America they put in with 4 Seats. Cost is not the problem. Any Tip would be helpful. Greetings
