High miles C63?

hello everyone! im new to the website, currently owning c300 2015. 63k and no issues except sunroof squeaking. i love the car but i need more power! never owned an AMG and was thinking about upgrading to c450/c43/c63. my dream car is def the c63 but it will have to be higher miles, around 70k-80k it is around 43k dollar. i do plan to keep the car for a long time. do you think i will run into major issues with the vehicle and should stay away from? beside the typical rattling around the car... High miles C63?

ML350 engine turn off while driving

My 2009 ML350 experienced a complete engine turn off while driving. It is as if I turned the ignition key to off position. The dashboard went completely blank. One time I was slowing down at a stop light. Another time is when I exit the freeway and on the off ramp. When the car turned off, I lost power steering and power assisted brake. It's quite dangerous. Car is in the shop but they could not find any error code or obvious problem. They checked crankshaft position sensor, fuel pump and... ML350 engine turn off while driving

Drive unavailable blues

On my 2010 E350 coupe, which fuse (#) would be for the main head unit, the cd changer? My changer is constantly trying to eject, even when car is off. Before I tear apart and remove unit, get repaired ($500), and have a gaping hole in dash for 2 week, I wanted to see if pulling fuse/cutting power to changer, for period of time, might "reset" the unit. Then I'd just be very careful not to touch eject button! And can get repaired at a better time. Any tricks you've heard of to get the DRIVE... Drive unavailable blues

ML 320 shifter problems

I have a 1998 Mercedes Benz ML320 that I bought about 3 years ago. I was able to drive it for about a good 3 months before the problems started. The truck starts right up, the shifter moves but the truck won't. I can shift into drive but the truck stays in park. I don't want to get rid of the truck. Anyone have any ideas as to what the issue could possibly be? I can't take it to a dealer as it won't move and I'm not paying for a tow there and back. Thanks in advance!

Both windows stopped working

Hi guys -- this afternoon I put up my soft top (manually -- I still haven't had my hydraulics replaced yet) and now both my windows stopped working. What should I do? Does raising the soft top have any effect on the window closure system, or should I just be looking at fuses? Thanks in advance.

W210 Blower Switch problem

W210 Blower switch problem Hi, Guys I am new to this forum, I have a 2000 model E240 (W210), I had a problem with the blower fan running continuously even when the rotary switch is set to (0), I replaced the blower fan regulator under the dash, but this did not fix the problem the fan still runs on (0) but turns of when the ignition key is removed. has anyone had this same problem. thanks Travetinegold

Engine Starts but no elec!

So this baffles me. I turn the key and the engine start (sounds normal, idles normal) but nothing that runs on elctricity on the car works. No radio, windows, AC, guages, lcd's, etc. After a couple of restarts, I can usually coax the car into giving me some elec. What is this? Cant be a short, because if I turn the radio on (as you would if the car were off) it comes on. It cant be the alternator becuase the engine runs. So Im lost. Has anyone seen this before?

'02 ML320 w163, radio went from enter code which I thought I knew, tried numerous times, switched to wait, now reads tele aid go to workshop, can this be remedied so it will accept the code, this was weeks ago still have same problem, already tried the ground to positive on battery move, what should I try next?

I don't know if this started to happen right after I received my car back from having a radio replaced on it. With a radio swap, are there wires that could have been possibly disconnected that would cause the glow plug not to light? Upgrading Exhaust on 2006 SL500

Hello all - I just purchased a 2006 SL500. The car is amazing, but the exhausts is too quiet for a beefy V8 engine. The muffler shop I took the car to said that the stock mufflers are small and that it is tough to put something else in there. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a better growl out of the car. I'd like to hear the car when I accelerate. Nothing obnoxious, just a bit more aggressive. Please advise. I'm in Los Angeles, CA. Thanks!

Windshield

Today on my morning commute a large chunk of concrete careened off a couple cars and hit my windshield. From what I could see of the concrete as it went by, it was nearly the size of a baseball, I'm impressed the chunk wasn't inside the car with me! Glass is now broken and I have questions, before I deal with my insurance company. Are these windshields special in any way? Can any glass company do the install or should it happen at a dealer? About a month ago I had to get a windshield... Windshield

Help please! See photos for a leak on transmission

Can anyone please help me identify what is leaking on my 450SL transmission? I have never touched this part but after doing a trans flush and replacing the filter and on seal, this leak showed up above the pan but I don't know what this is or how to stop the leak appreciate any help and advice thanks

Is my idle speed control unit bad?

In trying to track down a rising and falling idle as well as hard COLD starting my multimeter and I are doing some diagnosticating. According to a poster the resistance of the idle air control valve s/b between 7.5 and 10 ohms. Mine reads 4.5. With the key on the voltage across the connector should be battery no? Anyways mine jumps around and reads from ~1.7-2.76V. This was checked with two multimeters. If true it points to the idle speed control unit. I do not have any info on how to check... Is my idle speed control unit bad?

A couple of concerns before buying 2002 E320 with 80K miles...

Are the glossy black trim pieces on the door's B pillar area easily replaceable? One of them is rusting out pretty bad. This one is vague, but the seller states that there's a power steering leak is there a commonly know failure, or is it some I can sort at home? Lastly, this one has a gray interior, are the white creases on the seats, or the fading to black on the steering wheel horn/airbag cover something that can be reasonably restored?

cigar lighter not working

I have a 73 450sl. Cigar lighter not working. Checked fuse, it's O.K. Ash tray seems loose in console, but I don't think that's the problem. I wanted to use my GPS, and it didn't light up. Took ash tray out and saw where the plate is for the connection. Put my gps plug on it directly to see if it's getting electricity, nothing. So, how would I troubleshoot this problem? I hate to think I have to go underneath dash to look for loose wires. Ugh. I'm getting too old for that type of... cigar lighter not working

I have coolant recirculation pump question?

The part on my car 2004 e320 base has definitely went out or is going out but it seems as though this part has more then one name? I thought I saw it called Aux Water Pump/ Coolant Recirculation Pump/ and another name with heater in it. Am I wrong? Are these different parts or same part different names?

Coolant leak, passenger side near firewall

Recently took ownership of a 1981 380sl. Last owner had it 30yrs, and it sat in the garage parked last 5yrs. Slowly working though the kinks to get her back on the road. So I have a coolant leak, and it's coming from this smaller looking pump. Anyone know what this is? (Image attached). Just above the coolant overflow tank score the firewall. thx!

I went to get new spark plug's for Delilah and found the usual NLA. I was using Bosch Platinum +4, which are platinum resistor plugs, but NLA. So I decided to go with the standard NGK BP5ES, which I found on Ebay. But after hearing some reports on some of the BP5ES not having removable ends I decided I better ask the vendor what these had. The trunk battery was about 8 tears old, and I thought it may be time to get a new one. However, once inside the car, I found the front battery did work, and I was able to start the car…..but none of the convenience functions worked (i.e. trunk latch, door locks, etc.) Anyway, I went to the MB... new battery, but locks now don't work

Advice needed for W124

when installing the auto.transmission pan ,should it meet right up against the transmission or leave a gap of about 1mm ? Mine appears to be stopped from meeting by the crimps at the sides.

1989 300te fluctuating rpm speeds at idle/stalling

Recently acquired 1989 300te. Overall in very good shape for 250k miles. With a new battery, it fired right up and I drove it home. Next time I drove it, it died while braking. Was able to complete the trip after several attempts to keep it running after start-up Sometimes I start the vehicle and it runs fine, however, if I apply slight throttle and release, it then has a "lumpy idle" and will eventually stall. AC Problemo

2001 ml320 ac not working .. the fuses and relays seem to be working and have power going through them. decided to bypass and hit the compressor with a straight line to the batteries and the clutch engaged. ran the car and put the ac on in the car and powered the compressor manually but no cold air. so I took it to a shop and they said I needed freon so I told them but it in. they charged 100 bucks and told me I needed a new compressor dryer the works to get the ac going. I have tried to search but have not found what I was looking for. I have recently changed timing chain, plugs, wires, rotor and cap. I would now like to check the ignition timing on my 1982 380 SL (USA version). Engine has been running fine, but I really don't have a benchmark and bought a timing light to check. 560SL Exhaust Crush Gaskets

I am replacing the Cat-back section of my 560SL exhaust. Can anyone provide the part numbers on the two crush gaskets in between the rear exhaust and the mid-section? 2005 SL500 running rough after o2 sensors, CPS and MAF changed

I have a 2005 SL500 that started running rough. When it warms up it begins to hesitate a bit and about every 3-5 minutes it will sputter and then die. When I rev it to approx 2500 rpm it will begin to sputter as well. I have replaced all 4 o2 sensors, MAF along with the Crank positioning Sensor. Also after changing the MAF I was running it and Erving it through the sputtering, a while later I noticed fuel leaking near the rear passenger wheel. Speedometer question 1988 560SL

My speedometer and odometer stopped working. After watching several videos on Youtube, I have now realized that the speedometer is not manually driven. Questions: Should I be looking for an electrical problem/connection? Where does failure typically occur? M104 valve covers: magnesium vs aluminum. How to tell?

I've read, in various threads here and elsewhere, that the valve cover for an M104 can be made of either magnesium, or aluminum. My question: is there a way to tell? I know that magnesium will burn if lit, but that seems an impractical test. I've also read about the vinegar test, but I'm not sure i have enough unpainted metal there to test it for sure. No power to garage door buttons.

I just recently purchased an 06 S500. I tried clear the codes for the garage door opener but the bottom light never flashes. Tried hitting the learn button on opener, and then the programming button but still doesn't work and the light on the bottom of mirror never flashes. Is there a separate fuse for this system because the dome lights in the mirror work perfectly. If so where is it located? Im new to the car and trying to get a handle on where everything is. A.C. Compressor Stays On

Hi all. Lately I have been experiencing a very strange phenomena with my 1988 300D air conditioner. It is a manual unit, not full climate control. Blows cold air BUT... the compressor stays on even after switching the whole thing off. Looking at the compressor it is spinning but the switch on the dash is off. I pulled the Klima relay out and the compressor still stays on. The only way to stop it is to disconnect the plug at the compressor, which I have done. Could it be speed-sensor... A.C. Uneven idle cold start

Hi guys hope all is well. I got a w211 c200 kompressor M271 Engine . On a cold start up the idle is uneven for a few seconds then sounds fine. I ran the MB star diagnostic it picked up no faults.I changed the valve under the kompressor, changed the throttle body , changed the air pipes but the vehicle still does the same thing.I anyone had this problem before could you please share your information or of anyone knows what's the fault could you please assist thank you guys

So in the EPC I go to search, part without vehicle data, enter a part number and I get all model compatibility. How can I decode that information to determine model years? Improving differential/rear subframe mount

If I remember correctly, only the Meyle brand version is available any more? Due to the reputation of their rubber not lasting/holding up, would it make any sense to attempt to beef it up with polyurethane like this gentleman did on the 107 forum? Starter won't engage

I recently replaced the TCM on my 03 S500 and now when I try starting the car the key turns and the dash lights up but the starter doesn't engage also I forgot to disconnect the battery when I replaced the TCM and I don't know if that may have caused the problem, I have checked all of the fuses in the car and nothing was blown but the TCM that I replaced was full of transmission fluid. Any help and or advice on how to continue would be greatly appreciated since taking the car to a dealer... Starter won't engage

So I have a U1700L with the OM352a engine. I have changed the turbo, modded the exhaust, changed IP timing and have all my gauges installed. Currently I have a performance billet camshaft being made up to my specs. This will be used with my current turbo setup before adding the supercharger but will also be used with it. Doors locked themselves??

I've been working on this car for years and finally got it running pretty well. So today I decided to take it for a spin and went to find the doors were locked. Key is in the ignition. I've never locked the doors on this car and can't imagine how it would have happened.. It has hard top but the seals are dry rotted so I can possibly gain access to window buttons maybe?? Also the battery has been dead and I put jumpers on it to attempt to start it.. Could this have triggered locks??

2003 C230 Can’t remove rear license plate

Just bought this hatchback used, really like it but there are some quirky issues the most frustrating of which is I can't remove the rear license plate to change the tag. The screws do not budge so ai suspect I need to get to the back of the mounting through the trunk. Any thoughts? I have been spraying them with PB Blaster to no avail.

Towing 05 E320 CDI on car dolly

Hey all I may be transporting an 05 CDI 500 miles on a car toter. I was planning on disconnecting the driveshaft at the rear coupling but then got to wondering how I would keep it supported under the car for the trip. Whether or not there's some bolts or what not close enough that I could wire it to and keep it suspended. I suppose I could use the exhaust system to hold it in place, but I would like to hear comments about this and whether anyone has done it. Thanks Steve
