'07 CLK 350 Key won't turn

I put a new battery in my CLK 350 4 days ago. It started and ran perfectly afterwards. Today, I cannot turn the key in the lock. I tried the spare key with the same result. Not sure if it could be related, but it is about 100 degrees in the shade here today. And suggestions? Thanks.
