ML350 engine turn off while driving

My 2009 ML350 experienced a complete engine turn off while driving. It is as if I turned the ignition key to off position. The dashboard went completely blank. One time I was slowing down at a stop light. Another time is when I exit the freeway and on the off ramp. When the car turned off, I lost power steering and power assisted brake.
