GPS issues

Hello everyone. New to the forum so I'm not sure if this has been discussed already. I purchased a 18 GLS 450 with water damage from Copart. Getting SOS inoperative prompt and my gps is jumping all over the place. I've done research and was told it may be faulty wiring with the Hermes/mbrace module or antenna connection. I've checked the trunk lid wires but was told that the modules are under the driver seat under the carpet. Anyone familiar with the actual location as I do t want to remove... GPS issues

Instrument cluster outside temperature indicator

Hello! So since I bought my W140, I have been driving it without knowing the outside temperature. Then, one early morning I got into the car and for one second, when car fired, it displayed clearly (no burned pixels etc.) that outside temperature is -39 degrees Celsius. And since then I have never seen that gauge working again. Nothing major, just wanting to know how to fix it. I have the "first gen" instrument cluster with manual mileage ''counter''.

Low idle/motor dies when cold and placed into gear

I have been struggling a bit with keeping the motor alive just after I start the car cold and when I placed into R or Drive...the rpm's lower noticeably to the point where the motor will die sometimes. Once the car is warm, or has driven a bit, there is no problem, although I still can feel the RPM's lower when at stoplights, etc. Is there something in the air/fuel mixture that is in need of cleaning? I dont think there is a choke or an idle adjustment on the 2001 W210 motor. Any help would... Low idle/motor dies when cold and placed into gear

Headlight removal and disassembly

Can someone please give me details on removing the square European headlight from my 1979 450 SLC on the passenger side. I need to remove the headlight assembly and then disassembly it to replace the large chrome reflector inside the headlight as my reflector is showing some rust on the bottom edge. I looked at the lamp assembly and it almost looks as though the fender itself needs to come off to get at the headlight but I may be wrong. I only saw one small visible bolt and surely it is... FUEL PUMP ISSUE HELP!!

About a 6 weeks, I got a check engine light with code P008A "low fuel pressure," my mechanic ran a diagnostic and determined that the fuel pump was dropping in pressure. Upon opening the cover where the fuel pump is located he discovered gasoline on top of the fuel module cover coming from the plug. We went ahead and replaced the actual fuel pump, the rubber O ring, the metal and plastic O ring, the fuel modeule cover, the plug, and finally the fuel filter since Mercedes says that by not... FUEL PUMP ISSUE HELP!!

Brake bleeding

Always have a problem of a long brake pedal. Is it ok to bleed the brakes with the engine running?, as i always find it slow going when the engine is off i.e brake fluid comes out the bleeder screw slowly with the engine off using the pump the brake pedal method. I have got a pressure bleed kit but my brake booster failed virtually within a day of using that method and its put me off using it. Thanks boys.

Rear reclining seat question

Team, I removed my rear seat to replace rear shocks. I noticed there are green inserts in the seat frame that the pins slide into. Unfortunately, heat and age have made them brittle. The pin/seat rattles. This is on a 560SEl with reclining rear bench. I have looked at can't seem to fine the part number for these inserts. Can anyone offer a part number or any ideas in the event they are not available?

Will check engine light turn itself off after thermostat replacement?

The check engine light was on in my C230. The M-B dealership hooked it up to their computer and diagnosed a broken thermostat. I replaced the thermostat myself (surprisingly easy job), and have driven 10 miles so far, but the check engine light is still on. Is the car smart enough to detect that the thermostat issue has been fixed, and if so, how many miles will it take the car to figure it out? Thank you. PepsiMB

MIST SENSOR OPTION

I had the windshield replaced on my 2014 ML350 BluTec. The new glass is a MB part and was installed by my local dealer. Included in the build sheet is "Option Code 107 or I07" (hard to tell) labeled as "MIST SENSOR". Does anyone know if this option is for a "rain sensing windshield"? I recall the wipers turning on automatically when it started to rain with the old windshield. The wipers do no come on automatically with the new windshield. Many thanks.

While working on my other problem I have found a new problem... AAV has been disassembled, cleaned and bench tested a few months ago. I turn the engine on, it is cold and after a minute or two starts surging. In response I turn the idle air screw in until it stops surging. After the engine has fully warmed up the revs in P are around 600. This makes the car a bit harder to start and seems a bit unhappier. In response I turn the idle air screw out to raise the RPM to about 800. The next... D-Jet Idle Air

Lift Gate Opener

I replaced the battery recently in my 2012 ML350, everything else seems to work fine except the rear lift gate. I have checked all three fuses that are listed for liftgate and all fuses are good. However there is no electricity to the fuses with the ignition on or off.

1974 450sl

Bought this car and the previous owner did a car death. The wiring harness was so cut and spliced and the car did not run. Bought a harness from a 1973 SLC. Most of the wiring and plugs matched up, but now we are at the end around the driver's side.. there are some things that just don't match. The old had one had only one plug for the instrument panel, the new one two. By counting the wires it seems as though they just need to be combined. There are no lines for the plug on the side... 1974 450sl

Kienzle 1314-37 Tachograph wiring diagram

In doing the RHD conversion on my Green u1250 Doka i foolishly didn't mark some of the wires connecting to the tachograph. I have removed the tachograph from the dash and the unit has a wiring diagram of sorts stuck to it. Unfortunately part of the diagram is missing!!! and I can not decipher where the wires go. I have googled for hours trying to get an image of the diagram or something with a pin out for the Tachograph, if anyone has such a unit can you please post a pic of you wiring... Anyone retrofitted the rear roller blind in a 211?

Hey all Found a wreck being parted that has the same interior color as mine, 138A, and same year. Unfortunately it has the goofy wood roller door console crap but otherwise there are elements that are far cleaner and undamaged so I'm going to be getting a bunch of parts from it to renew my worn interior. That E320 (gasser) also has the rear roller shade and I'm planning on getting it so was wondering if anyone else has fitted one on a W211 that didn't come with it? If you have please post... Anyone retrofitted the rear roller blind in a 211?

Car not changing gear

Hi guys I need help. My 1998 W140 S320 is not changing out of 1st gear even if I do it manually. this is intermittent as when I drive the car the next day it's fine for 10 mins then it happens again and stays like that for the rest of the day. on the dash I have the oil pressure yellow light on but the dial is on 3, I also have the bas abs and brake inc parking brake lights on. What does Stage 1/Stage 2 at 45 degrees mean?

Checking torque specs on my WIS for the rear tie rod and noticed it says that on a 10mm x 1 the nm is 25 to the wheel carrier if a silver or blue connection type. If it's a 10mm x 1.5 then it's Stage 1 - 20nm then Stage 2 - 45nm at a fractional angle I'm assuming means 45 degree's. Can anyone elaborate on that? For the meantime I'm going to pick the first and go with a 25nm torque at the wheel.

When my W124 300CE was imported into South Africa there was no unleaded fuel available therefore no catalytic converter or sensor was fitted. Now it is available and I would like to fit an after market system. The car was manufactured at Sindelfingen on 20 September 1989. Can anyone tell me if the ECU is compatable with a catalytic converter and would be able to sense such a unit and where I can obtain a sensor? BTW it is fitted with a Bosch KE-Jetronic system.

Hey, how do you know which bolts need to be torqued under load? Is there some logic which can act as a guide to know which ones do, and which don't, need to be torqued under load? I understand that in the repair manuals there is a warning/hint saying that the suspension components are affected by this. However, I feel unsure deciding which components are categorized as such. W177 initial REW results

The following graphs of my first use of REW software using a mindsp UMIK-1 mic. This is an identical post to one in A class club.co.uk First is flat Second is maximum mid boost (+10). Looks like the best starting point for adjustments that I could find. Finally flat but extra smoothing as it looks nicer!

Have got rid of my my Mercedes original key to w212 ordered one from mercedes benz germany got a key that was specific to my my car put it in the cylinder it says program wait but nothing happens after a while so the odometer comes up again the key works did not go back to my mi mercedes dealer they ordered a new key for my chassis number but the same thing me it me does not work !! Mercedes w124 Ke Jetronic 200E faulty potentiometer?!!

Hello, i have a w124 , 200 E, Ke jetronic and won.t start. Have the same behavior like in the video. The guy from the video solved the problem with a new ORIGINAL potentiometer. I measure the old potentiometer and i was out of specs, i removed it and it was very wear. I buyed one from ebay , aftermarket, at 50 euro, but the car won.t start, have the same behavior. I measure the resistence again on the new sensor and it was zero. Could the new sensor be faulty? Or the 2 contacts who touch... Mercedes w124 Ke Jetronic 200E faulty potentiometer?!!

C230 wont start

Need some suggestions my 04 c230 won't start it will do only half crank I checked voltage going to the starter I got 12 volts and my dash lights are on when i try to start it . Would it be a bad battery even if the voltage is good on it?

What should have been a two hour job turned into a 2 day job. Finally finished. For one the Mercedes CD does not cover electric windows and it appears to be written for the 1971 350SL with crank windows and never revised. So I just finish repairing the window slide and possibly came across some of the reasons the slide may have fallen off to begin with when I went to reinstall and adjust the window I found several other issues. I posted this a while back on the 126 forum. I have updated it since as the fix only lasted 2 years. How many of you have to slam shut your front doors, and... How many of you have to slam shut your Benz's doors, and how did you fix the issue? Heater problem - the crabby ML55 strikes again.

The new radiator is in the ML55, and I ran some coolant flush through the system to clean out any junk that may be in the block, even though the coolant that drained out was quite clean. Tonight, I ran some oil flush through the engine in preparation for an oil change, and as I hadn't thought to crank up the heat and run the flush and coolant mix through the heater core, I figured I'd do that at the same time. Unfortunately, the heater didn't cooperate. I didn't get the slightest bit of... Heater problem - the crabby ML55 strikes again.

Preventative Maintenance

Hey guys, i bought my car at 62k km's and it's at 82k. I had couple of relatively minor problems (headlights, shocks, couple of interior fixes) etc. Since i got the car i only changed it's oil, the plan is to upgrade shocks to H&R 29324-2 Sport Coil Springs and installing new brakes. I'm new to my city and i don't know any good shops to trust with. Dealer is not an option for now. Engine, transmission and diff is my priority, how do i visually/physically check them? Can I convert Xenon HID headlights to normal or LED headlights?

Was screwing around the other night off road in the rain and managed to hit a fence and broke both headlight housings, among a few other things, but the headlights are the biggest issue right now. Checked ebay and don't really feel like paying $250 a piece for used OEM HID units, this vehicle is mainly a winter beater and mountain biking rig with 265K miles on it already. Is it possible to convert it so I can get cheaper or aftermarket LED headlights for it, or should I start hitting up all... Can I convert Xenon HID headlights to normal or LED headlights?

It is a part #140 830 1985 a couple of the red LEDs don't light and one of the blower speed switches doesn't work I found Programa in Florida. Has anyone used their service? Battery drain after radio upgrade

I have a 2005 E500 that i had a shop do an upgrade to the radio - installed Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX however since this upgrade my battery keeps draining. Went thru an alternator and a battery in 2 years. The Amp was not shutting down so they installed a kill switch which solved one of the problem. I did a battery drain test and found a 2.5 to 3 amp drain from one of the fuse on the driver side - when i remove the fuse it killed everything on the steering wheel. Looking for someone in the... 380SL Windshield

I have a leaky windshield. Wondering if anyone knows of someone in the area that can work on this car. The glass is in great condition. I just need someone to remove the trim, windshield and reseal it. Everyone I've contacted wants to replace the windshield in fear that it will break when its removed. The glass installers who have reached out to me appear absolutely clueless about removing the trim. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Painting Bundt Wheels: Don’t make this mistake!

I had my 15" ARC bundts professionally painted by a body shop with MB Astral Silver in a poly urethane. They look great, but there's a problem. When I took the wheels to a tire shop to get tires mounted the service man noted the fresh paint on the wheels where the lug bolts seat. He said that even if I torque the bolts correctly, I would need to check torque on them DAILY because the paint can cause them to loosen. Engine won't turn off until...

86 560 SL, went to shut it off, removed key and it kept running. Put the key back in a few times and turned it to the accessories on point, didn't want to bump the starter motor. It wouldn't shut off. Noticed that the climate controls weren't working, pressed a bunch of buttons, they started working then tried to shut motor off and it worked. Haven't been able to replicate the problems but electrical gremlins usually return when you're not parked in your garage with spare. Any idea what to do?

09' W211 in limp mode

Just purchased this beauty with sport package (a former repo). Vehicle is in limp mode. First replaced solenoids... Car ran fine for about 12 hrs.. Then back in limp mode. Next ordered identical conductor plate and valve body and attempted reprogramming. Car stuck in 3rd gear. Can someone help with suggestions? Service Required. Do not Shift Gears Message

Hi, I need some help. While driving home, my 2008 S450 gave me the following message and I noticed the car jerking. It says 'Service Required. Do not Shift Gears.' I manged to get home and put the car in garage, but i cannot seem to change into any gears. I have to turn the car off, and eventually if goes to P. I have the parking brake on just in case. Hi,

I need some help. While driving home, my 2008 S450 gave me the following message and I noticed the car jerking. It says 'Service Required. Do not Shift Gears.'

I manged to get home and put the car in garage, but i cannot seem to change into any gears. I have to turn the car off, and eventually if goes to P. I have the parking brake on just in case.

When I turn the car on, it still displays the same message so Im assuming now that it is not driveable. The car currently has 89,200KM's...

380 Help Please

My car has only been driven once in 20 years. I have now changed tank screen, fuel pump, fuel filter, accumulator, fuel injectors and spark plugs. It now starts great. About 20 seconds after it starts and the idle goes down it stalls. What should I look at next? Thanks for your help in advance.

Check left parking light message

My2013 has the intelligent lighting system and is giving me an error message to check the left parking light bulb. There are no parking light bulbs, it is an led strip above the headlight. The strips still lights as a turn signal, but not as a parking light. Any suggestions what to check?

GLC300 55,000 miles

I have a 2017 GLC 300 and the engine light came on for the second time in a couple of years. The first time it was a an emission problem but under warranty. This time out of warranty by 4 months and 5,000 miles. Problem was the vent valve po52e71 (another emission problem). Took it to the dealership...part cost $376, labor $1400. Judging by the labor cost it must have taken over 8 hours to fix. I guess I should have asked more questions when I was told what it would cost but there really... GLC300 55,000 miles

Left blinker causes speedometer to jump also comes on with headlights

Howdy everyone, My 1990 420 has encountered another electrical issue! ( I'm beginning to think I should just redo it all at this point!) So my left blinker has some strange behavior. When I turn on my head lights it always comes on. the indicator on the dash included. Additionally when I turn it on it will cause the speedometer to drop to zero and bounce up and down like a windshield wiper! I replaced the flasher relay hoping for a quick cheap fix - with no luck. Hi all, I've been looking at buying an imported car from Japan, it's got a couple of problems, firstly the leather has come unstuck from a fair bit of the dash due to the sun, also the head has been switched out for a Panasonic so does not integrate into the car, any ideas of rectifying these two things?? Fuel Leak

Hi I just took delivery of my 1998 E300 Turbodiesel yesterday and noticed this morning that there was fuel leaked on the ground near the front center of the car. Just behind where the radiator sits. Any suggestions on what that might be before I take it to the shop?

economy gauge shoots to redline after slight acceleration

Driving at low rpms on a flat road at low speed, slight acceleration and the economy gauge shoots to red line. There is oil in the diff. New Bosch lambda sensor in 2017 (cost 140€ just for the part). Replaced the EHPA. 2017 (Electro hydraulic pressure actuator) also 140€. Checked the vaccum lines looks normal. Car is not overloaded. There was an overheat due to an electrical problem with the activation of the cooling fan, there is likely a warped head... economy gauge shoots to redline after slight acceleration

This message will not appear when I`m driving in the city and less than 60mph.
