Will check engine light turn itself off after thermostat replacement?

The check engine light was on in my C230. The M-B dealership hooked it up to their computer and diagnosed a broken thermostat. I replaced the thermostat myself (surprisingly easy job), and have driven 10 miles so far, but the check engine light is still on. Is the car smart enough to detect that the thermostat issue has been fixed, and if so, how many miles will it take the car to figure it out? Thank you. PepsiMB
