Rear Outer CV Boot Replacement

I have a 2007 E350 4Matic wagon. Have had it for only 8 months and already miss my reliable W210. First the front coil spring broke, parked overnight. Now the rear shock split in two (top half missing somewhere). Went to replace the shock and noticed that the rear outer CV boot was shredded by the dangling shock with the outboard clamp missing (grinded off). I've purchased the Beck Arnley CV Boot Kit (103-3025) as the dealer wanted 4x as much. Removed the CV axle tonight, but can't see how... Rear Outer CV Boot Replacement

Hello all, I have a W211 E55 with extensive aftermarket accessories for the audio/visual system. The car was a show car and since I've owned it the convenience features have been disabled and it starts beeping intermittently. When running diagnostics multiple battery control modules errors are triggered. I've replaced the trunk battery, accessory battery, accessory battery relay, and battery control module. After doing all that I've also reprogrammed and updated the firmware for the... Is it possible to bypass battery control module?

V140 tail ights

Over the years mine have fallen prey to the sodium chloride and other elements causing wear. I found these but the backs are different. Has anyone used these or similar replacements? Suggestions? Thought I would put this on a dedicated thread to hear other members experiences on this subject. Recently when carrying out engine work on my 1999 S430 I discovered corrosion on the engine ECU plug. Aparantly this is typical on V8s(?) So a breakers yard told me. The harness sheath is open to elements so I intend to seal / wrap the first foot from fuse box now too for additional protection. Headlight adjustment

Hi all! The headlights on my 06 cdi are quite inferior, they are normal halogens and I tried to change the bulbs to the "best on market", think they are Philips. Changed both dipped and main beam. The range is fine with the main beam on, but it seems to show far too close with the dipped beam, and much inferior to the lights on our Volvo for example. I have Airmatic suspension, so no range adjustment wheel inside. I know it should be auto-levelling, but shouldn´t there be some raw... Headlight adjustment

Another Mystery Noise Thread

Hello Everyone, I am having a problem tracking down a noise on my 2002 ML55 with 162k miles that I noticed getting louder and louder since I bought the SUV several months ago. Just got my first MB.

Hi all, I recently sold my 1973 TR6 and thought ... hmmmm, now what. Anyway after a bit of thought, I got a 1979 SL450 and am going through it to find the hidden (and not so hidden) issues so I hope this forum is as good as the "6 Pack" forum which I visited a lot and even managed to contribute to. It's a 2 owner car, both previous owners having owned it for 20 years and the interior is "tired" or rather has been changed from the gorgeous tan to black using rattle can paint in the vynil... Just got my first MB.

2007 E280 CDI - Unable to measure oil levels

Good Afternoon All, I have finally been able to move into an E class with what I see has the last of the designs which appeal to me. My challenge is that after checking and detailing the car, I am unable to get an engine oil level reading with the display method. Yes I have followed the instructions in the manual as well and there is just nothing about oil ! Anyone had this before ? Cheers and Happy NY to all and safe passage into 2021.

Performance Lowering Suspension R129 96 SL500

Can anyone provide suggestions for performance suspension components? I would like to lower it or have an adjustable ride height along with adjustable driving conditions, I.e. street and track use. 1998 W210 E300 No Start

Greetings I have a 1998 E300 TD 210.025, not starting have voltage at battery and the following faults in HHT DAS I have had EZS - Electronic ignition switch ELCODE 2105450306 - f - for a while now. Starter is not engaging turning over HHT WIN not allowing access hanging up when communicating with Control Unit's to clear faults even when backing out using HHTWIN Stop Any insight direction much appreciated

Driver’s Window Switch

The light for the driver's window switch on my 420sel is noticeably brighter than the other switches on my center console. Is there a reason for this or is this an anomaly? And where is the bulb that powers those switches? I've found the bulb for the gear selector and the upper part of the console but didn't know what bulb powers those lights.

Has anyone switched from the OE spark plug to Iridium plugs for their M112?

I have seen many posts about sticking with the OE spark plug as the best bet, Bosch FR8DPP33. But I just finished re-sealing valve covers and breather chambers and want to replace the plugs while I am in this far, but cannot get the OEM part until next week. I am tempted to get the Bosch double iridium that Bosch indicates will work for this motor, and I can get them right away for the same price as the OE part. Any strong suggestions either way out there?

TNA-signal (rpm) at CFI control module illogical

My LED diagnostics for my 91 500sl's CFI system, pins 1/16/3 is showing a 7 count, TNA-signal (rpm) at CFI control module illogical. Can I please get some guidance on what this means? I understand that CFI refers to the Continuous Fuel Injection module. I've tried clearing the error and it keep returning. I read the codes with the engine running and with the engine off but the ignition on. Thanks in advance!

How to enable HID in ‘05 E320?

I installed a set of OE HID headlights from a '06 E350 sedan in my '05 E320 wagon. Plug-n-play except for the silent movie flicker. I read about tolerable flicker but this is disco strobe. Is there a step-by-step guide to enabling HID mode using SDS or can someone guide me through the process? I can get to the CGW screen then I'm lost. Or maybe that's not where I should start. Thanks. Sds is saying its obstructed. So dilly me pulls b pillar apart to find no motor in there..only duct dissappearing towards the front. Either under seat or along the sill. I am simply obsessed with keeping my Benz super clean and in perfect condition. The former is a full-time job; the latter is almost impossible. Fuel Filter

Hello, I was wondering which size an fitting fuel filter I will need for my 94 sl500? This is my first time and I cant see the filter because it is protected by a metal plate. I didn't want to take it off and then struggle so does anyone know what dimensions? I saw some on Autohauz az? If you do know or have bought in the past do you have a link? Help with removing turbo

Working with a 1982 Mercedes 300d Turbo Trying to remove turbo but it won't come off. Removed the three nuts from the Y ring and it is stuck in there. Then I tried to remove all the nuts from the intake manifold and it won't come off. It seem I have to remove the turbo before I can mess with the intake. Any tips on removing Y ring? Pics attached.

EGR on and off

Does anyone know if the EGR on 07ML320CDI can sometimes work and other times not? How does one know if it's the actual EGR that is going bad? I thought if it's bad, it won't work. However, when I push the valve down, it goes to working fine for a while and then back to limp mode. Has anyone dealt with this issue and what was the solution?

I have a 2001 c240 260,000 kms and it has been nothing but trouble as I had the c230k before this and had nothing but good to say but any way, My current issues is the c240 is stuck in limp, I have replaced valve body with one from a c230k with no transmission issues and same problem arose. replaced 13 pin connector, filter and fluid, done reset for adaptive shift and codes from my cheap reader are still P763, 758, 753, 743 I'm left thinking my tcm my be the issue (it has been cleaned), I... Hey all, time to do the water pump on my 97 s320. Having some confusion as to the correct part. MB parts depts. online are saying 1042004801 is the correct part, however I found a thread where the gentleman used 1042005801. Both seem to be for the s320. I'm new to MBZ part nomenclature. Febi hose quality

Replacing coolant hoses, only ecstuning has the upper hose in its genuine format for 26$ rather than 49$ at the dealer. The wait for shipping seems worth the savings, or I can go ahead and pick up febi, which is reported at pelican parts to be supplier to porsche, seems like febi will be ok with hoses? Rear View Mirror Disaster

Hi, first post on a car forum!! I have an 2013 ML350 and adjusting the mirror yesterday the entire thing fell off the windsreen. I now have two pieces of plastic trim and the mirror arm with a ball joint at the bottom to move the mirror and the clip at the top end to attach it to the screen. Problem is I can find no way of getting the mirror arm back on to the screen - there is a funny hexagonal bolt with a recess for a clip at the bottom that sits on the screen but no corresponding clamp... Amber headlights

I was looking on EBay at a W140 used headlight unit which had amber-colored lighting. I'm wondering if it was an amber-colored bulb, or only the low-beam which was amber, or whether it was originally exported to France when new. I believe all cars in France were (and still are) required to have those kind of headlights. Anyone have an idea? James

Hello, I have a 1996 W210 E220D, and the central locking just stopped working. When I use the key to close/open the car, the red/green lights blink, just as they are supposed to, but the doors do not lock or unlock. I also tried to use the console button and it does not work, which led me to try the headrests button that is not working as well. Roll bars stuck in up position

My soft top and roll bars are not working, switches not working. Benz dealer says I need a new hydraulic pump motor, $3500. Problem is the my roll bars are stuck in up position until I decide to fix the pump. Does anyone know how to manually override and lower the roll bars? The dealer mentioned taking the rear seat out to try to lower the roll bars but I didn't have time to leave it for them to do that. Thanks.

Window lock stuck in c300 passenger rear window will not rollup

My window lock is on and will not turn off. I thought maybe it wasn't getting enough power from the battery but I replaced that and the problem still exist. My back rear passenger window will not roll up with and the window lock function is stuck on with red light on. Vacuum system... Hose I.D reality, connections etc

Greetings, I am currently getting ready to replace the vacuum hoses, and connectors for my 93 300D. It seems that 3m.m i.d is the standard black rubber hose "sold/recommended" for this vehicle. My car on the other hand has 3m.m and 5-5.5m.m running around. It seems that at some point someone made a mess of things. My main question: Does the system require(from factory) 3m.m i.d rubber hose all the way around with step up connectors at the respected junctions? (Like step up to 5@Egr... Vacuum system... Hose I.D reality, connections etc

For repairs or rebuilding in the US, I'd gravitate towards the vendors that serve the military vehicle world and are geared up to fabricate replacements that match the original soft goods on a wide range of Vintage Military vehicles. There are good vendors and maybe some not so good ones, but their ratings can easily be found by searching Military Canvas, tops, soft goods... 404 WINDOWS

G-CLASS problem!! 2013 350cdi

Hi everyone, im new member here, i have a problem with a G class and i wonder if someone ever experienced something similar The car doesnt start (cranks but wont start) and if starts after a very long cranking it will idle and white smoke will come off the exhaust (diesel smell). The car also went to the dealership and said is the ECU which it has been replaced but the problem is still there. 722.9 P2725 stuck in Limpmode

My R500 (2006 155K) set the P2725 code internal electrical test of the component 'Y3/8y6 (B2 brake control solenoid valve) on Monday. I'm hoping I can get away with changing the solenoid valve only, and not need the reprogramming. Fluid was changed only @40K in 2009. Car still has both original Batteries (Aux and Main).

Locking issues

I bought a 1996 E320 a few months back and since I replaced the battery I can't lock or unlock the car from passenger door or from the trunk. And today when I was replacing the climate control box on the dash I noticed there wasn't anything plugged into the central locking switch. Any ideas on either issue would be greatly appreciated. Oh and my switchblade key there is no key fob.

1999 W129 ignition wiring, DAS?

I managed to pull the small wires off from the front of the ignition module on my 1999 sl500 and can't find where to plug it back in. The car turns over briefly, then the ignition turns off. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

detailing items to take to a car show

I'm taking my E55 to the Deutsche Marque Concours 2004 at Avenel this weekend (see http://gws-mbca.org/DMConcours04.html for details). However, on Friday I'm (cheating by) taking it to a detail shop. (see my previous post asking for tips in dealing with a detail shop). So, on Friday I pick up my immaculate E55 and drive home then I drive to the car show on Saturday morning (about 60 miles total). I'm sure I'll pick up a little road dirt on the way. Any suggestions on what to bring to... detailing items to take to a car show

82 380SL Acceleration Problem, WUR related?

Start to work on the car a week ago. Used to had a little rough idle problem, but will acceleration fine. Replaced the distributor and rotor, and pick up coil connector, seems the problem fix, guess its been a little misfire. Now the car will start perfect, but as soon as I press the acceleration pedal a tiny bit, or press the air flow sensor a tiny bit. The engine stall. Doesn't matter cold or hot.
