Rear View Mirror Disaster

Hi, first post on a car forum!! I have an 2013 ML350 and adjusting the mirror yesterday the entire thing fell off the windsreen. I now have two pieces of plastic trim and the mirror arm with a ball joint at the bottom to move the mirror and the clip at the top end to attach it to the screen. Problem is I can find no way of getting the mirror arm back on to the screen - there is a funny hexagonal bolt with a recess for a clip at the bottom that sits on the screen but no corresponding clamp...
