E350 Chirping

Hello. My sister has a 2011 E350 4matic (W212) with approximately 80k miles. Recently the car would chirp during cold idle in the mornings. Once the engine is warmed up (approx. 10-15 min of driving) the chirping would go away for the rest of the day. Next morning during first start the chirping is back. I brought it to my independent shop to get the belt and tensioner replaced and the chirp stopped for 3-4 days but it's back. Do you think the next thing to look at is the pulleys? Any... w209 clk stuck on hot

hi guys wonder if anyone can help, i have a clk270cdi w209 on a 2003 reg, ive been having some problems with getting it to blow anything other than hot and the vents seem stuck on up only....with the weather we have been having lets just say its getting mighty sticky ive been to merc who put it on the star system and said that the climate control panel is knackered, they quoted me £690 for a new one, so Ive bought one off ebay and fitted it, still the same story blowing hot and cannot... w209 clk stuck on hot

Threshold / Door Sill issue on 2006 E320 Sedans

I am on a quest to find a solution to an issue on the 2006 W211 door sill. If you own this model you know that the fabric area by the door sill is unprotected and a constant cleaning issue. This was protected on the W210 models as shown in the photo (see red arrow). Does anyone know of a part that might work on the 2006 models?

Dented Oil Pan

A couple of days ago, my Merc fell down on the jack when using ramps, stands and jack. The pan got a dent It may be necessary to replace the oil pan due to that the strainer may be partially closed and cant make enough suction. Odd problem - fuel tank shrinking itself?

I've been chasing an odd little noise from the boot area of the car. Been there a while. Just like a click, when you accelerate gently from a stop, or come to a halt. the suspension is nice, new shocks, new spring hats, smooth travel. Seems to come from the tank area of the car, checked everything around the tank, took rear seats out, nothing loose. Checked under car, no exhaust touching, everything tight, all good. This noise come and goes, you cant hear it much if you have music on, but... Odd problem - fuel tank shrinking itself?

Transmission Dipstick Question....

Ebay Transmission Dipstick Question.... Hey all. I just got done doing a transmission fluid change as per the excellent instructions in this forum (thank you), but I haven't yet measured the fluid with car warmed up. Last night when I stuck the special dipstick in (got mine of ebay), I noticed that about 10 inches of it were still out of the transmission fluid tube when it "bottomed out". Is this normal? Maybe worped rotor.

I think the previous owner may have got the brakes hot. But my question. Is. Would a warped rotor make that same type of shimmer when you accelerate any where over 90km/h.

HELP!!! Coolant leak

I need help guys! I've been replacing parts in what seems to be a domino effect on my 1988 420SEL with the 116 in it. First I replaced a trans cooler hose, then the chains went. I replaced those, and everything seemed fine. Right after we started it up, it started leaking coolant out of the hole shown here. it's located on the left side of the engine close to the transmission bell... HELP!!! Coolant leak

Total Cost(part+labor) for a CGW module for 2010 S550

Hopefully someone with knowledge of Benz's can help. My car was recently diagnosed with a CGW module issue. It needs to be replaced. I realize after it is installed it needs to be programmed with codes. I was quoted a price of $1,100. Does that sound fair? Please let me know as I love my car and would like it to be fixed but don't want to get gaffaled either.

need imidiate help!!!

guys something terrible happend while i was working on my car earlier. im trying to replace my control arm bushings. so i have to remove my stabilizer bar. heres the problem. i was done replacing the bushings. now im installing the bar and on the passengers side one bolt was so god damn hard to put on. i forced it till half way my 10mm wont bite anymore. i changed to a 9mm it wont fit, i changed to an english equvalent and nada.. do now 1 bolt is hanging.. i went to autozone to ask for... need imidiate help!!!

Exhaust Recommendations 💥

Soon I'll be throwing around $2k to have a custom exhaust made for my 560sec. Looking through the forums it seems like tri y headers are the go to and then a high flow cat. I wanted a nice loud rumble from it. I was wondering if anyone had any videos of their exhaust in action as there are a few on youtube but not too many with exhaust details. Lmk what you got and how it sounds.

supplemental air springs for rear coils?

Has anyone installed supplemental air springs that get installed (squeezed) inside the rear coils? Air Lift has some that are 3" in internal diameter, but it appears the inside internal diameter of the coil spring is just shy of 3" (somewhere between 2.8 and 2.9". Air Lift says they need to be 3" internal. I have a 3,500# trailer that I pull all the time (GLK does a great job), but I would like the rear to be more level and not squatting down so much. Headlight & Parking work intermittently

i have a 1997 e320 sedan with oem xenon headlights. problem is the lights work intermittently completely random as far as i can tell. Parking lights all round stop working along with headlights. I still have working hazards/turn signals brake lights and reverse lights. ive checked the fuses and they are a in working condition, ive tried a used headlight switch replacement with no success. Rotary switch moves fine, not completely smooth not stuck, seems to have good resistance. Looking in... Headlight & Parking work intermittently

Spark plug cables lengths?!

Is there a difference in the spark plug cable length? My 1998 e320 recently shot out a spark plug out of its hole while I was driving. I haven't checked yet why it popped or what the damage is. I'm going to try to put the old one back in with the cable when I get a chance to see if it's still capable of holding a spark plug and cable. Momentary Front Left SRS Malfunction

Hi, While driving my 2009 W204, occasionally I get a warning "Front Left SRS Malfunction Service Required." Then it goes away. The car is under warranty. The dealer could not see any fault saved on the computer. After driving it around to try to get the message they sent me home with the car. Very strange knocking noise while driving.

Hi guys — I seem to have developed a very pronounced knock from the front driver side wheel while driving. Please see linked video. It started off subtle but grew much more pronounced after about a day of driving. How can I find out if a part from a different cassis is compatible?

So I found a 1980 300 w116 at my local pick n pull. I have a w126 500 from 1984. And I've priced out a power steering gear box from a remanufacturing site and it's really pricey. Maybe I can get lucky with the scraped vehicle? How can I check compatibility? If not for this exact part maybe something else I need to "restore" my project. Thank you any advice is much appreciated.

Hello, I own a 2010 GL550 (body X164) and I need to replace my current 21" tires (Pirelli Scorpion Zero) with all season tires, as my current summer tires are "worn" and not suitable for winter driving (so I'm told). What is the problem with my 280SE: automatic transmission, eletrical or differential?

My 280SE W116 was lacking in power, especially when going uphill. Today it got worse and doesn't even move. I lifted it, the wheel on the driver's side turns, I change gears and everything looks normal, however, when I put the tires on the ground it becomes static.

Steering Angle Sensor Issue

Hello, new to the forums here, surfing the 'net to see if I can find a resolution to my issue: 1999 E320 4Matic sedan BAS, ABS and ESP lights are on. Errors for all three occur upon startup of the car and the lights remain on while driving. Friend has a Mercedes "hand held tester" and scanned the car for me. The tester said there is no signal from the steering angle sensor. I bought a new one from my dealer and installed it. He cleared the codes, but they persist, and there's no signal... Hi guys. Problem with this car. 1. New spark plugs 2. Change places of ignition coils 3. Check compression 13bar - ok 4. replace fuel incjector (used) 5. Check wiring from ecu to coil and injector Any ideas what to check now? Im not sure but can hear something is ticking close to 4 ignition coil but not sure. i have open valve housing. Hello all. I have a low-miles OM617.952 that I will be putting in my 85 300TD. I am in the process of getting it ready to install and will be applying a fresh coat of paint. I'm looking for some advice on prep - primer - paint options. What gloss level did MB use from the factory? Gloss? Satin? Im trying to figure out how best to diagnose my faulty Parktronic system. I have a 99 CL500 My own OBD 2 reader doesnt work well with basic Mercedes engine parameters and no system specifics. I was going to buy a 38 pin LED blinker, which is being advertised for OBD1 up to '95. But on all the PDFs im seeing no specific troubleshooting on how to diagnose the PTC. I may buy the OBD 1 blinker tool just to have, but does the 38 pin port still work on later model cars.

AC question 2004 E320

The AC compressor on my 2004 E320 4matic wagon will only kick on when the engine reaches operating temp and I accelerate hard. At times when I then get into slow traffic or I am stopped for a period of time the compressor will turn off again. My local guy, not Benz specialist, has no clue. Thoughts? Thanks!

Shift Knob Pins

Hello, An idiot installer tried to twist off my shift knob and destroyed the pins connecting the shift knob to the shifter. These parts are not available from Mercedes. I'm obviously going to have to scavenge them from another shift knob. Does anyone know for sure that any Merc with the same type of shift knob will work? Fuel Tank Vacuum and Pressure Regulator

I've seen the vacuum diagram below in many places and read several posts on the pressure build up inside the R107 fuel tanks. My issue is that the pressure inside the fuel tank is so high that it's causing fuel line leaks until I release the tank pressure by opening the filler cap. In addition, the car seems to be running rich. I disconnected the return fuel line from the fuel distributor and the gasoline came flying out because of the pressure in the gas tank. Hey guys so I purchased some monoblocks from a w220. Wheels are 18x8.5 and 9.5, et44 and 46 I believe. I was planning on putting these on my w210 so I did some test fitting (I already know about the difference between ball seat sizes). But what are the stock shank length sizes for the w220 that run these wheels? It seems like they're pretty long but haven't seen a definite answer on the forums. Any info helps! Thanks

Hi I have a 2004 Mercedes S 500 and one day I went into my garage and noticed my tail lights stay on soon as I give it contact and when the car is on and there's no way turn em off except unplugging them I tried to replace brake light switch and rear sam no luck also tried fuse/s and a relay I guess there isn't a relay any help is appreciated thanks !!! Also doesn't shift out of park i don't know if the issue is related or not but happened same time thanks again

Hi everyone , 2004 E320 CDI Avantgarde my first ever thread asking for help after stupidly connecting a reverse polarity battery for about 30sec without starting the engine. It was showing SBC FAULTY , ESP FAULTY , Display faulty and red battery message So after various much appreciated advices I had new used alternator fitted, front SAM(few components blown) rear SAM ( components blown) , footwell fuse box new fitted , new front battery , used good BCM , front battery relay under wiper... Door Handle removal when lock is damaged?

Hi Someone decided to try to break in to my 230TE with a screwdriver and damaged the lock. Got a new handle and lock off eBay. Seems like an easy swap if I had a functional lock as I need to turn the key to get the handle out. I took the door panel off and I kan grab the shaft with a plier from the there but there is no room to twist it. Anyone got any ideas or been in my spot? /Erik

Hello, having trouble with transmission at the shop.

I have a 1973 450 sl. Have it at the shop, the transmission was rebuilt about a year ago. Had not put many miles on it and needed to take it back. The shop now needs to replace the transmission modulator, they found one, and it worked but things would not stay correct. they now are looking for the modulator spring. Correct Front Spring Compressor Tool Usage

I have a European model 280E that I'm trying to replace lower ball joints and, while I'm at it, front springs to correct sag. I didn't spend 16x the price for an OEM spring compressor (if it's even still available) because after reading up on experiences here, the only issue I thought I'd have with getting one of the cheaper alternatives (similar to the 8milelake versions for sale on Amazon and ebay) is that I'd have to enlarge the hole in the spring perch. Fault code 9003 low voltage? What is it

Could this cause my car to be a bad starter when hot? So far I had a garage tell me it was my battery control module,turns out my car doesn't have one. It's had the crank position sensor changed,new glow plugs, new plug relay , new turbo,new injector seals and full service. But its still a lazy starter and bad when hot. The code on a snap on reader was 9003 and it said low voltage. I really need to know what the issue is or a part etc,I need this fixing ASAP. Please help

Sudden dropped flap

so, the upgraded part was already installed on this car for sagging flaps. What has me curious is the flap is hanging down, not saggy, and happened suddenly. What happened? How to fix?

The other day while driving in it with my mother she looks down at the console and says "why is it telling me what gear im in next to D"? She SWEARS that the car never did this before and that she can tell the car is driving different now? 2015/16 Merc Sprinter Central Locking Issue

Hey, I've recently purchased a 2015 Merc Sprinter and noticed that the side and rear doors aren't locking under normal key central locking press. I've subsequently found a cable which is part of the sliding door track (see below) disconnected. Replaced/coded my AAM, keyless entry still doesn't work!

I know this is a never-ending situation with the w163 but I'm trying to understand. I have a 2000 ML55 that I bought with two keys. I replaced my AAM with another matching part number unit from a 2001 ML55 just now, because: keyless entry didn't work, front/rear fog lights didn't work, and xenon auto-level on startup didn't work. I used my SDS to pull the coding from the old AAM, installed the junkyard replacement AAM, reapplied the coding, it took it successfully. Then I learned the two... Where is the battery control module

Hi guys, My car is in the garage now,after having many faults (all now fixed) bar one, the code is po9003 it is saying its a low voltage issue,the battery has been tested and fine, there have been a few people say it could be the battery control module. We have completely stripped out every part of the trunk interior panels and it isn't in there. Does anybody know where it is? Or if it has been superseded where that part is likely to be. The car is a 2009 cls 320 cdi.

Blower Motor/Resistor Test

Gents, have a 1999 SL500 (43,000mi). Interior blower works intermittently. Purchased a resistor pack, but was wondering if there is a definitive test before I remove the wiper assembly. I'm assuming the motor is OK as it occasionally works, and for the same reason any fuses are OK. Thanks in advance.

Fortunately for me I have only purchased one car sight unsigned and I suppose there was potential I could have been scammed too. I've only bought one car sight unsigned - Ebay, shipped from California to N.C. It was a clean transaction and I wired the monies to the seller and he arranged shipping. V8 swap into I6 280SE W108

So I am new here, but just wondering if anyone has specific information as to how wide the engine bay might be in regards to sticking in a V8 in place of the W108 OE I6. I am actually thinking of a non-MB motor, but just wonder if anyone happens to know what issues there might be with the steering components and exhaust mainfolds? Or is it pretty generous as far as this goes? Thanks in advance!

02 ML320/Door latch problem, not lock related

2002 ML320. So I'm having an issue with my door latch. I was taking my nieces with me for the day and my older niece was helping me put in car seats. She apparently pulled up the metal latch thinking out was the child lock for the door. Well now, i cannot shut my 2 back doors. I made a video to show what i mean. I have tried literally everything.
