Door Handle removal when lock is damaged?

Hi Someone decided to try to break in to my 230TE with a screwdriver and damaged the lock. Got a new handle and lock off eBay. Seems like an easy swap if I had a functional lock as I need to turn the key to get the handle out. I took the door panel off and I kan grab the shaft with a plier from the there but there is no room to twist it. Anyone got any ideas or been in my spot? /Erik
