Mercedes SRS Diagnosis, Does anyone have the Mercedes Manual

I need to trouble shoot my SRS system on my 1986 560SL. The 1986 does not have a diagnostic port for the SRS. Would anyone have the Mercedes factory manual for troubleshooting this. It doesn't seem to be in the 107 tech manuals.

STALLING ENGINE, LOSS ACCELERATION AND PERFORMANCE

Good day my people. MY 05 c240 begins to stall occasionally when I slow down and about to accelerate to speed off. Sometimes when I pressed the gas pedal to speed up it will not response immediately but struggle to speed off. Though, I recently have ESP Malfunction message but don't know if that could be responsible. I need help for I have currently packed the vehicle for I want to check my egr pipe for possible blockage. Guys is there any particular set of Hex Keys that make accessing the intake manifold bolts less of a struggle on the om603? Any do's or don'ts as far as the intake manifold gasket is involved? Seems like the gasket alignment wiggle issue while placing the intake mani back on the head could be a issue? I tried to find a replacement tutorial on this subject but failed to come up with anything? Any help would be appreciated.

Instrument cluster diagnostic or built in self test?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has heard of a built-in self-test feature for the early W210 instrument clusters? For the early W140 and R129, the centre knob had a special feature which would put the set into a self-test mode and allow the needles to set to either 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 levels in order to diagnose stepper motor functionality. Hey Guys, new here and desperate for help. im normally okay at diagnosing problems with my 2000 E320 but this one has me stumped. Yesterday i turned the car on to go to work and all the break related lights on the left side came on, Handbrake, ABS etc and the car wouldn't shift into second. speedo isn't climbing either. Drove it like 2km and turned the engine off and on. Fixed it so i carried on assuming it was a battery issue. Today the same thing happened but no matter how much i turned it... some kind of limp mode?

ABS ESP Screen Flash while driving 07 221

2007 s550 rwd Center screen will flash to black for half second, like a reset or reboot while driving - definitely catches you off guard the first time - engine continues to run but message flashed saying that ABS and ESP are temporarily unavailable - some play in steering wheel too when it happens at lower speeds. any ideas? i'm a novice so any help is appreciated! thank you

WATER PUMP BELT TENSIONER QUESTION / PROBLEM

OK, my bushing with the serrated center cylinder that sets the tension on the water pump V-belt gave up the ghost. I bought the replacement bushing from Scott at E.I., disassembled the parts from the truck and pushed out the old bushing. This is a press fit, but the numbers seem a little off, and before I destroy the new bushing, I thought I'd ask the community if they ran into the same issue, and how they dealt with it. MBUSA refuses to address problem with batteries under wtty (battery shortage - no OEM batteries available nationwide), leaving their customers with vehicles that are inoperable unless they buy their own after-mkt battery. Abs Light on

Hello all, my Mercedes 230 te has its abs light on permanently, checked the front sensors, they were dirty, so cleaned them up, replaced the ovp relay and still no joy, abs light firmly staying on, it is noticeably brighter then the other warning lamps when the ignition is turned on. when testing the ac voltage produced from the sensor, the non drivers side wheel took a bit more spinning to get the voltage to register compared to the drivers side, could this be the fault? running out of... These disposable $800~$900 rear view mirror designs get a bit annoying

I have reworked these interior rear view mirrors in R129; W140 & now W211. The failure mode is consistent across the board. This is the failure of the spring clip anchors in the front bezel. I was skeptical about the ball joint on the W211 as it is less rugged than the 140 & 129 designs, but that isn't the issue and sustains the 'pull-out' removal well so far. Now if MB were to be 'friendly', since they certainly know about the syndrome with the bezel, they could simply off the front... Saddled Fuel Tank Problem HELP!!!

Hi All, My 1995 C200 has a saddled fuel tank (a left and and right tank on either side of the drive shaft connected by a narrow strip at the top). I was driving at about 50 mph when the car became sluggish and about to stall. I took it to the workshop and there the engine stalled and wouldn't start up. Then we realised that the right side tank is completely dry. The left side tank must be full because I had filled up the tank a few days before and the fuel gauge indicates that the tank is... Dashboard Fuse Location s430

I have a fuel gauge not working. First of all, I'd like to check cluster fuses but I can't locate the fuses (79,84, 85). As I know, normally on w220 and w221 there should be hidden fuses on left or right of the dashboard where door closes. But in my 2002 S430 there is nothing there. Where else should I check?

FS R129 500SL Hardtop (WHITE) and Stand

Totaled my 1999 500SL back in June and had the hardtop in storage. The hard top has seen exactly 14 months total time in any weather. I know this because the original owner had it in his home for 18 years and the next owner was family and she never aquired it. Coolant smell odd location

Hello everyone. Long time reader, rare poster. I've got an '83 240D 4 speed with a faint coolant smell in the cabin. First thought is heater core right? Well, the odd part is that is only seems to be coming from the center vent, and is stronger (which isn't very strong) when the passenger side heat control is turned up. I get no coolant smell from the 2 outboard dash vents, floor vents, or the defrost vent, and no steaming or fogging of the glass. Just a faint smell from the center... Coolant smell odd location

Has anyone put a 300 turbo into a 240 d car. I have a 1977. 240d that lacks a transmission/driveshaft/engine. I recently bought a 1985. 300 turbo diesel(CA). Heated Seats Problems

So my 2012 plate B200 has decided just as we get the strong cold winter spring to pack up the heated seats and stop working. Buttons on the dash would work and light up in stages but no heat. Tracing the sytem worked out hte control module is under the driver seat the Front Seat Control Module. Unplugged the main plug and two plugs for each seat and horror we have a burn out. So module is probably stuffed and a new wiring loom at least. Just... Heated Seats Problems

I have an issue with the speedo needle jumping all over as the car starts to roll. I have replaced the caps. and the power transistor. It's not the sending unit because I put a different cluster in and it works fine....so it's the printed circuit. I've narrowed it down, I think, to one of the IC chips..KEPA-796. ABS BAS ESP Warning & Hard Steering

03 S430 with 4Matic - first time this has ocurred, ABS warning light comes, BAS, take to Work Shop message. Also, check engine light is on and steering is very hard (almost feels like power steering pump is not working). Have read on other forums could be ESP module, is this something i can replace myself, pop out, pop in? What are the other likely causes of this? I have heard speed sensors, low battery. Any advice of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Matt in Toronto.

w111 restoration

Hey guys, I'm restoring a 1960 w111 220s at the moment and just got a 1964 w110 as a parts car. Turned out the w110 was in a lot better shape than I expected and has less rust than my w111, I was going to cut floor panels, trunk floor etc. I'm now thinking it would be easier to do a body swap. Has anyone done this? As they are basically the same from firewall back I'm wanting to put the nose cone, subframe, engine on the w110 body as I prefer the w111 styling. is this an option? given that... w111 restoration

E220D 2017 Carplay Issues - Firmware Update needed?

I have a E220D 2017 (premium plus if that affects car play) and use the original apple lightning cable The CarPlay is not that reliable, for example if I start the car plug it in and reverse the starting apple car play gets cancelled by the reverse camera playback and then takes another minute to get CarPlay or sometimes I have to replug it completely Other occasions I have to turn the engine off lock the car unlock the car and start the dashboard for it to recognise my phone is connected... Car wants to drift all over the road

My other thread is still unanswered, but those problems are minute compared to this one. New tires 3 weeks ago. Starting a week ago, it starts to drift itself back and forth on the road. I thought it was just her (my girlfriend) driving. She demanded I take the wheel. Sure enough, at 40+mph it wants to drift back and forth at random. I held the wheel perfectly straight, and it would still drift around. I could feel it tugging on the wheel in both directions randomly. New tires didn't do... Car wants to drift all over the road

Original owner, this car now has 210K on the speedo and everything works fine mechanically but of course the air suspension is problematic. I've replaced the front air struts twice, should've converted but its piecemeal. Anyway, the rears finally caved this weekend. Debating whether to get new aftermarket air springs or convert the rear to conventional coils/shocks. I'm a little confused about various kits that I'd like to have the shop I use look at. Left Front Headlight out.... Help Please

My driver side headlight went out and I purchased a new D2S Bulb. I replaced it and the headlight is still out. So, its not the bulb. My next step is to replace the ballast/ ignitor. I am assuming the the ballast and ignitor are the same part? I can buy a Mercedes ignitor for hundreds of dollars or a doorman after market for $50. I do have the left front light out indicator with the picture of the light on the cluster. Does anyone out there have any info to help me get my headlight to work... Left Front Headlight out.... 450 SL

Hello, new to this site, new to the Mercedes world long time car guy. I purchased a 450 SL yesterday. The vehicle was grandpa's car. Car was park in the garage for the last two years. W123 center console lights not working???

Hi there. I just bought a 1984 300D and noticed my dash lights were very dim. I ordered LED's to fix that problem but at the same time I noticed all the lights in the center (ie. climate control, etc.) were not working. I thought maybe it had something to do with the dimmer but I just took the instrument cluster out and noticed the dimmer had been jumped with a soldered wire. Which after research seems fine. I don't mind not having a dimmer. My initial question is it the same fuse for the... W123 center console lights not working???

Lowering Airmatic suspension

Got my module this week and It took me 5 minutes to set up my module and lower the car. It was very simple and as advertised and worked perfectly at less than a1/3 cost of the Renntech. I'm at a -38 front and -35 rear.

Electrical Issues

2003 E320 Sedan. The instrument cluster is completely blank. No fuel guage, temperature ect. The analog speedometer and rpm work. Additionally as soon as this happened, the headlights now come on when i start the car even if the headlight switch is in the off position. Aside from this the drivers seat does not work as well as the telesoping steering wheel function. The passsenger mirror is also now moving on its own sometimes. Are these interconnected? SAM?

Start Error - W140 not starting

Hi folks, after some help with my '97 W140 S320. It won't start and is displaying "Start Error" in the mileage display. Symptoms are: Will turn over on the key but will not run. Fuel pump not pumping. Battery draining in the space of 8 hours. No central locking from key or centre console although the indicators flash when the fob is pressed. I read a super charger is the way to go because turbos destroy your engine especially in a suv engine and is it safe to supercharge an older engine with high mileage I mean its a v6 w163 From a 2001 ML 320 I really would like to have everything running like new too is it possible to clean out everything to have it run new with that said it has a electronic transmission are those able to run like new like everything refurbished clean who knows this stuff .

I recently did a foolish thing and bought a car from interstate without inspecting it. I had high hopes of restoring it during lockdown to give my life some kind of purpose. When it arrived I found the Rust was much worse than advertised. I took it to a friends work shop in regional Victoria (australia) and his boss explained that unless I had a spare 20k, this wasn't going to happen. He said that I could make my money back potentially, but the dream was over. 'I paid $5450 AUD, my question... Rust filled 380sec, what would you do?

Since the last thread on this subject I have been asked by several members to explain certain parts of the timing. I have therefore decided to start a new thread on this subject and (hopefully) clear up some of the mysteries. First lets start with the timing chain tensioner. The old tensioner must not be re used. We can however use the old tensioner for timing purposes and to do this the small circular retaining clip on the end of the tensioner must be broken off. Alarm Siren not responding - questions on diagnosis and repair

SDS tells me the alarm siren is not responding. I wondered why it didn't chirp when I locked the doors. I pressed the "panic" button on the keyfob, and the car sits and blinks silently. Something is not right. Looking at WIS tells me the alarm siren is in the front fender, on the driver's side. There's a couple of YouTube videos showing how to replace it and it looks pretty straightforward. If that's the fault. My first thought was that someone was tired of it chirping and unplugged... HELP - Hardtop is leaking when it rains bad!

Just put the hardtop on my 1985 380SL and after a rain storm the drivers side floor is soaked. And idea where this is coming g from? I've never had this problem with any of my SL's and I do t know what to do with my beautiful 35 year old car!

Draining Diesel Fuel Tank

I have a '07 ML320 CDI that was accidently filled with gas. The engine was never started, and It's been towed to my house. I've disconnected the fuel line just before the fuel filter, and have attempted to suction the fuel line from there with a generic fuel pump. I wasn't getting much success. The moment that I turned the ignition switch, the built in fuel pump kicked in (although for only 10 seconds at a time). I also learned that the rear "Relay O" controls the fuel pump. On my last road trip my AC compressor shut down (2000 W210 – E55) and the EC light became stuck in the on position. I searched many threads and even spoke to my local Indy Benz tech who told me I would have to bring the car to a MB tech who can clear the codes. Many posts I found confirmed this, saying you can't clear the codes without hooking up to the DAS/STAR system. This in fact is NOT true. I have a W126 1982 280SE auto. The owner's manual mentions a tool kit. I know a tool kit was provided with the car as the dealer's handover checklist has this item ticked.

Can anyone tell me what tools were included in the kit? How were they packaged and where were they stored? I'm thinking they could have been in one of the wells on either side of the spare wheel?

4 Matic Vibration

I have an 01 E320 4 Matic that vibrates at around 40 mph and 70 mph when cold. The vibration seems to go away when the car warms up.( at 40 mph ) I can still feel it at 70 mph but not as bad when warm. I have had the tires rebalanced. No difference.

C36 in Southern California Self-Service Yard

Found this while searching local Pick-a-Part yard inventories for 107s to scavenge: 1995 Mercedes Benz C36 Amg Used Auto Parts | Stanton No idea what remains of it, but thought I'd post here. Getting hold of this drivetrain for a swap into a 107 or a 124 wagon is a bit of a fantasy of mine, but even if it's still there, I have no way of pulling it out myself.

Found this while searching local Pick-a-Part yard inventories for 107s to scavenge:

No idea what remains of it, but thought I'd post here. Getting hold of this drivetrain for a swap into a 107 or a 124 wagon is a bit of a fantasy of mine, but even if it's still there, I have no way of pulling it out myself.

Opinions on using an 6-year old unopened bottle of MB Coolant?

As the title states, I am looking to see if I should chuck it or use it? I bought my 550 6 years (49k miles) ago and replaced all fluids at that time, I also intended on replacing the coolant but later decided to wait until I put on more miles given the coolant lasts a long time. Well, 6 years later I'm at around 82k and am about to tackle replacing the oil cooler gasket. While I'm at it, it seems like a good time to replace the coolant since I have to drain the coolant as part of the... Opinions on using an 6-year old unopened bottle of MB Coolant?

W124 strange SRS light and vibration after extensive maintenance

Hi, all! I came here searching for some suggestions about what in the world could be going on with my car. it's a 1994 E320, non-4matic. It does not have ASC.I feel the need to mention both aspects because of the issues going on, and the work that was completed by my competent mechanic. I just got my w124 back this afternoon. It went in for the rear subframe mounts and bushing, front flex disc, and carrier bearing. I also had them go ahead and do the rear brakes and flush the trans and... 2000 SLK230 R170 ECU SWAP HELP PLEASE

Hey guy's, need help please. I'm doing a ECU swap on my 2000 SLK 230 and will need to swap the security chip inside the ECU from my old one to the new one. I cannot find any information anywhere on this particular ECU of which chip is the security EPROM . (Found info on all other ecu but not this particular one. ECU - BOSCH A 028 545 44 32 (ME 2.1) Pictures below of the ECU and the mother board. Thank you.

Help me find an obscure o-ring part number for coolant manifold elbow pipe

Hey everyone, I am going to tackle a leaking oil cooler gasket soon on my 08' e550 m273 and I am mapping out my parts list. Part of that list is replacing the o-ring on this guy (the pipe part num is 2732001218) so I know it is good to go when I re-install. Finally Fixing the "Light Malfunction" Errors

Well I finally took the brute force approach to solving the Light Malfunction Annunciator/Pest. I was having limited success cleaning the contacts on the light bulbs, the holders and even the contact surface on the conductor plate. I determined that it was the stoplights that were the main offender. I suspect the contacts couldn't take the current or had high resistance, so I decided to create some jumpers to augment the circuit. I haven't had the Annunciator complain for 2 months now --...
