These disposable $800~$900 rear view mirror designs get a bit annoying

I have reworked these interior rear view mirrors in R129; W140 & now W211. The failure mode is consistent across the board. This is the failure of the spring clip anchors in the front bezel. I was skeptical about the ball joint on the W211 as it is less rugged than the 140 & 129 designs, but that isn't the issue and sustains the 'pull-out' removal well so far. Now if MB were to be 'friendly', since they certainly know about the syndrome with the bezel, they could simply off the front... These disposable $800~$900 rear view mirror designs get a bit annoying
