Alarm Siren not responding - questions on diagnosis and repair

SDS tells me the alarm siren is not responding. I wondered why it didn't chirp when I locked the doors. I pressed the "panic" button on the keyfob, and the car sits and blinks silently. Something is not right. Looking at WIS tells me the alarm siren is in the front fender, on the driver's side. There's a couple of YouTube videos showing how to replace it and it looks pretty straightforward. If that's the fault. My first thought was that someone was tired of it chirping and unplugged...
