Peeling clear coat, do I have options?

It's been raining a lot this year in Los Angeles and the peeling clearcoat which started small is getting larger. I'm trying to see if I have any options other than a full respray which I have been quoted around $7,000. If I repaint by panel, they said I will loose the pin stripe in that one section and don't know someone to match that pin stripe. Maybe just get a cheaper full respray? [ATTACH... Replacing seat belt latch only

Hey guys I was on a date with my gf and when I dropped her off she left the seat belt dangling from the door and it got grinded on the way home is there any way I can replace the latch only. the retractor works it just that it got tangled and didn't retract.

2003 G55 AMG Backup camera and upgrade infotainment system (head)

I just purchased an '03 G55 AMG for my wife and the first thing she asked for was a backup camera for her car. Can anyone recommend a feasible backup camera system for an '03 G55? Ideally I'd like for it to work with an upgraded infotainment system, if such system exists (I've read about Xtrons systems, but I've never heard of them before). Thanks in advance.

Fuel smell some time inside the cabin and outside the car

I have Mercedes w220 2000 year model. The problm Nowadays is fuel smell.when I put the glass down and drive too much fuel smell. When I up the glass no smell inside. I inspect the fuel pump side no leak I can see. The fuel pump and filter was new only 1 year gone I changed. One of mecanic said canister filter which is on driver rear side is bad. Tats why this happening is that true? I want to change it?please guide me I can't see any drop of fuel leak

SBU Replacement Aluminum Air Tanks

Injection to Carb Transition(?)

Well, after fighting with all the different components & adjustments for the wonderful fuel injection system......I called it quits! Removed the octopus & associated components to see how difficult this endever would be, turns out, fairly easy. Convert CCs to CID to help with carb choice. I found a rebuilt Holley one barrel for L250ci 69 Ford Mustang. Made a 4 hole base from a drum brake baking plate but needed to enlarge the center. I used a small lathe but can be done many ways. Then... Injection to Carb Transition(?)

Jump Start 1986 560SL

Anything I should know before jump starting? Is there anything special for this model such as any grounding posts etc. or can I just attach positive battery of good car to positive battery of the SL and negative battery of good car to metal trunk of the SL?

Soft top won't close -- red light on switch flashes

After leaving the hard top on for several months, we removed it after pushing the red top button back. We heard all the top cylinders fire, and the hard top lifted off with no problem. When I pushed the red button forward to close soft top, I got red light flash and no movement. After checking fuses, battery, etc. I looked down into the left and right latches at the rear of the top. Passenger side was "down" and drive side latch was "up". Spacer question

My Lorinser RSK5 rims made for R129 came with spacers that bolted onto the wheel itself with 3 little M6x12mm socket head screws. What is this type of spacer called? It doesn't seem very safe. Should I get rid of it and buy new spacers? At the same time, it's Lorinser so why would they make such a shitty spacer for mercedes? Furthermore, the screws are stripped so I will have to replace them if I continue using them. Good idea or bad? If I do buy new spacers, I will need 30mm per wheel... Spacer question

W211 without chrome trim strips?

I just realized the w211 I got doesn't have the bottom chrome trim pieces. I think I've seen a couple other w211s without the chrome strips, but I just wanted to know how hard would it be to replace the non chrome trim parts with the chrome ones. It's not that big of a deal, the rear and sides may even look better without the chrome, but you can tell something is missing on the front bumper without the strips once you pay attention to it.

'Trans ecu defective'

05 S500 .. code showing for defective trans ecu. Trans shifts v smooth up through 7 gears. On way down, depending on speed, there is a jerk at low speed due to skipping of a gear going down inherent to the 7 speed. So .. do I attack the ecu code .. or leave it alone for now??

The roof seam repair question

So the main seam at the back has parted and the fabric is coming out from behind the rear window on one side.... Gawd I hate convertibles almost as much as air suspenders. In the past people have posted about re-glueing the seam. Not sure what do do about the rear window. I am minded to either buy a used roof cloth and pre-emptively take it to a sailmaker and have that seam reglued and sewn up or to take my roof off and do the same. Don't really want to spend over a grand for a new... The roof seam repair question

COMAND NTG1 Won’t enter update mode

Apologies if I'm missing something, I'm trying to do a firmware update on my COMAND NTG1. I've spent the last 2 hours trying different suggestions from YouTube and Google etc but I can't get the unit to accept any of the suggested key sequences and enter update mode. I've tried 1+3+8 etc. Is there any other way for it to accept and recognise the firmware update disc? Anybody suggest any ideas.

W124 E200, No power to fuel pump

Hi guys, my w124 E200 (m111.940) recently broke down, it suddenly stopped on the road as if I had run out of gas, it started up again after at least 10 tries. I took the opportunity to bring it home but since then it won't start at all! I noticed afterwards that the fuel pump no longer made a sound when I turned the key. So I first changed the fuel pump with a new one (it had trouble accelerating at high speed and climbing hills on the highway so for me it was logical that it was the fuel... W124 E200, No power to fuel pump

Did anyone colored their Bundt wheels other than Astral silver? I got the chrome ones, which I always, in the past, found a bit tacky. Now I'm okay with them. I was wondering if any of you see bronze colored Bundt wheels. Please add pictures even if they are different colors. I might get winter tires and might be be tempted to try out a new color scheme.

Having a hard time finding part: Mercedes-Benz Camshaft Gear 116-052-06-01 Mercedes says that they can supply two of these in 6 months. The charge about $200 each. I see other sites that charge about $50 for the Febi Bilstein, and they say they have them in stock. I really don't want to wait 6 months. Is the Febi OK in terms of quality? If you get what you pay for, then the Febi sounds risky. Thanks

Sunroof won't move but I hear the motor spinning

So the sunroof in this 2010 C300 just stays in place when you push the open/close button. However, for all 4 positions, Up, down, open and close, I can hear the motor turn and then stop as if the roof reached the open, up, down or closed position the button tells it to do. I'm thinking this is a cable issue and I saw somewhere that someone put a metal washer on a gear at the motor to replace a factory plastic one that wears out and moves the gear from engaging with the motor. Not afraid to... Sunroof won't move but I hear the motor spinning

Will 2011 17" e350 rims fit 2013 e350?

We have a 2013 with 2 bent 18" chrome rims and looking online the rims are $800 used. Uhh no. This is a family car, and with all the potholes will bend another one soon, IMO better to get fatter tires. I found some used 2011 e350 17's, will those fit the 2013 e350 or will calipers etc be an issue?

2023 GLA 250 4MATIC easy entry/exit will not work

Just purchased a new GLA for my wife she is only 5' and need the seat pretty far forward and the easy entry/exit function will not work for her and also for me. We have the seat setting set for us as well. Brought the car back to the dealer and was informed by the service department that it would only work when it is in a certain position. 1994 Mercedes Benz S600 accelerating issues

Greetings everyone. I am from South Africa. I have a 1994 Mercedes Benz S600 (W140). Recently I have had this problem that does not even pick up on the revs as soon as I engage the gears. Even if I press down on the accelerator paddle. However...when I switch it OFF again...and start it again...then I can rev it. So..the problem is only there when I engage the gears. 2012 W221 Fuel Pump

I just had a question about the fuel pump on this vehicle. I was looking at the Carfax and it was changed approximately 37,000 miles as failing. Are these pumps known to go out prematurely or normally from my technician training pumps generally do not go out unless you are driving around less than a quarter of a tank of gas all the time or very frequently. 2007 CLS 550 Wiring Harness

Hi all, I am having trouble codes P0030, P0050 (Heater circuit codes) and P0300 - P0304 (Misfire codes cylinders 1 - 4 on the passenger side) on a CLS 550. I got into the passenger side engine harness and found the cluster of red wires that look to me to have shorted at the left end tip highlighted in the attached photo. I'm wanting to verify if this looks normal for this harness or if this indeed looks like something shorted? I currently own an 2001 C32. my city fuel consumption is at 21L/100km. I have checked my air filter, tire pressure and cleaned my MAF sensor. But i am still getting 21L/100km and i do a bit of spirited driving and granny driving... anyone have any thoughts on why i am gettin 21L/100km?

Need helping sourcing clutch part

Does anybody here know what car a sachs sd651 clutch plate goes in? I got one for a custom transmission swap I'm doing in my 1979 200 but it was broken due to a stuck pilot bearing. I cannot find another one for sale anywhere nor do I know what car it normally goes in to be able to find a facsimile best I can find is dead links and out of stock listings. One old ebay add said it fits an 84' to 87' 190e but autohauz's listing says it doesn't. Any information is greatly appreciated

Oil Leak ID - 07 E320

So I have an oil leak at the rear of the engine. There is a rubber grommet with a hole in it on the bottom of the transmission bell housing and the oil is dripping out this hole, so above that is where the leak is. When I noticed the oil leak I suspected it was the oil cooler seals, but noting that the sides of the engine where it mates to the transmission are dry, leads me to believe that it is the rear seal. As a proper enthusiast, I decided to jump in on the deep end & recently, (1 month ago) purchased an 06' SL55 AMG with just under 50K on the odometer. I replaced the original display a few years back due to fading. A few months ago it started to flicker, not long after it was blank with intermittent background illumination. I ordered the exact LCD this time around. The same result after installing the new one. I unplugged and cleaned the socket with CRC. It worked fine for a short period after plugging back in. I am seeking advice at this point. Any insight would be appreciated. Cheers.

Beckmann wanted $120 to test the old one but I found a new one for $180 so I went that way. I plugged the new one in and now both of my running lights were out, all other exterior lights worked fine. Car won't maintain idle wind warm on 95 S500

I have read numerous threads on this forum in regards the. Lack of being able to maintain idle on a vehicle when warm. One of the possibilities is fuel regulator and possibly fuel pump. I changed the regulator no help, I tested the fuel pump pressure and 45 to 50 lbs. Again no problem. Is there a module or component that regulates the idle? Any other ideas out there? Help with buying a E420 1995

I've been eyeing a 1995 E420 W124 with 26 000km, however the seller says it only starts sometimes as it has electrical issues and it's been sitting for a long time. It also has a bit of rust on the boot. But I'm worrying it may have more rust than it seems as it's been sitting. It's selling for 4000$. Is it worth getting it and fixing it up or not?

Hi my nave is Dave, I have a 2011 350E with 120,000 miles on it. I also have a 1938 Studebaker State Commander with 90,000 miles. The 38 is a barn fine from NW PA where it was stored for 42 years. I rebuilt the engine, trans, brakes, electrical and front suspension. Buffed out the original paint. I've also redid a 49 Ford F3 pickup and sold that. The new electronics keep me from doing much on the 350E but I love the way the car runs on the highway. Looking forward to learning more about the... New member

No light interior colors for GLC 4matic AMG???

I've been a Mercedes Benz enthusiast for decades. I've always gravitated towards the lighter interiors. I want to get a GLC 4matic with 20 inch tires which puts me in the AMG category… Why is it that there are no choices for any light color interiors once you go AMG? Not even in the leather options! The lightest option with this vehicle is saddle! You would think with a car this high and you would have more options. Thanks for letting me vent! I am in the US.

Oil level warning.

Friend bought a 07/2003 sl500 with 106,000 miles. Located in Merced, CA. No owners manual, and no service history. (16 spark plugs) Oil level warning light comes on, and goes out, but comes back on. No generic codes with OBDII scanner. (Light/ warning, was off at the time.) Question is why.? To much oil, or to little oil. He says there is no oil on the ground. Sensor.?? It has a paper sticker on the windshield, stating it was serviced 3000 miles ago, and a reminder to service in 3000... Oil level warning.

The message initially was incorrect gear ratio and transmission flush. The car has been parked for over six months in a garage. I decided to warm it up and it would not move if shift in drive mode. Reverse gear moves but not in drive. Any help about what the problem is. Thanks.
