Greetings, I am here in search of some advice regarding this issue I have had for a while and have failed to address. My '09 E550 RWD (722.9 trans) occasionally makes a slightly metallic tapping noise from the engine / transmission area when under light acceleration in seemingly 3rd gear only. Hesitation / engine stutter accompanied this sound only once when lightly accelerating uphill, every other time the engine delivers power perfectly during the noise.
