Fuel smell some time inside the cabin and outside the car

I have Mercedes w220 2000 year model. The problm Nowadays is fuel smell.when I put the glass down and drive too much fuel smell. When I up the glass no smell inside. I inspect the fuel pump side no leak I can see. The fuel pump and filter was new only 1 year gone I changed. One of mecanic said canister filter which is on driver rear side is bad. Tats why this happening is that true? I want to change it?please guide me I can't see any drop of fuel leak
