After leaving the hard top on for several months, we removed it after pushing the red top button back. We heard all the top cylinders fire, and the hard top lifted off with no problem. When I pushed the red button forward to close soft top, I got red light flash and no movement. After checking fuses, battery, etc. I looked down into the left and right latches at the rear of the top.
