C250 w205 rattling noise?

Hi Guys. I am having some issues with a C250 W205 MB I bought privately, the car runs well and it has had the services done as per logbook. I am just concerned that it makes this rattling noise when cold started. This noise last for about 1 minute and 50 seconds and then disappears. I have left a link for you guys perhaps someone knows what it is and if it's something I should be worried about? The car has 65K milage. Does Sonnax TCC damper valve kit fit my model year?

2001 SL500 722.624 transmission I want to know if sonnax #68942-23K TCC Damper Valve Kit will fit in my transmission. The sonnax site says "late" 722.6 but doesn't specify any years. I called and they said I'd have to verify with my mechanic and I guess open the valve body to find out ( ridiculous bs if you ask me) I already bought the kit along with the overlap control valve sleeve kit #68942-05K but wanted to verify things before install. Thanks

722.6 Shift Upgrade?

Is there a way to shorten the time it takes to complete a gear change; possibly an upgraded valve body or shift kit? I'm loving the lockup and manual shifting ability of my auto-stick transmission, but I'll be damned if it isn't slow as heck to complete a downshift, whether in manual mode or with the kickdown. (Granted, I'm comparing it to either my '06 manual Scion xB, or my '15 Subaru Outback with paddle shifting CVT.) I was watching 'Legit street cars' on YouTube who resurrects mid '00's... 722.6 Shift Upgrade?

98 E320 - Squeal on starting

This is my wife's car. 1998 210.065 I noticed over past few days that when she started car, there was a loud squeal from under hood that went away quite quickly. I finally remembered tonight to check it out. Car is outside and it is dark and COLD! I had her start it up a couple of times. I checked serpentine belt and it is tight. The noise seemed to come from the front right side. Maybe the alternator. Alternator seems to be working OK. I will have a closer look tomorrow. Question... 98 E320 - Squeal on starting

08' W221 has Error code-P2725

Got another problem now this car is crazy lol. As im driving down freeway going about 65mph i noticed the car jerk outta no where what felt like the tranny. I got off the exit to a redlight and stopped, turned the car off and back on and seen the check engine light then continued driving but now the car has very high rpm at low speeds and isnt downshifting gears properly. It jerks really hard when shifting from R to D or vise versa. Code scanner brought up Error codes: P2725-pressure control... 08' W221 has Error code-P2725

Ignition cylinder cover removal

Hello guys, I have 1999 s320. My car doesn't start, and finally found out the problem is ignition switch. I order the ignition switch with housing. Now, I want to take out the key cylinder from old one to put it in new one. But there is black metal part covered it. Does anyone know how to take out the cover and reach to the cylinder?

QUESTION: Is it possible to code the foglights to be able to turn on independent of whether the headlights are on?... or allow the foglights to turn even if only the parking lights are on? Changed cam oiler tubes on M119

Changed right bank plastic oiler tubes on 97 R129 today. Not a difficult job, took time to make sure everything was clean before re-assembly. 3 of 8 tubes were blown out. Also changed timing chain tension assembly. Sincere thanks to all who have gone before and provided pics and info. Had watched a video where one guy had to press hard to get aluminum oilers in head. The original plastic oilers were easy to remove. The aluminum oilers from an older M119 with new O-rings were easy... Changed cam oiler tubes on M119

how to clean interior temp sensor

What is the best way to clean the interior temp sensor fan that is above the rear view mirror beside taking it out? Can I just spray it with some contact cleaner? Don't want to break any of the mirror housing trying to remove it.

Hi all, I have a 95SL500 with an incomplete service history. I'm trying to identify when the wiring harness was built. I've been having some electrical issues but harness looks really clean on the outside. I don't want to cut into it if I don't have to to look at the underlying wires. Where can I look to find where it was made? Or is it really just kind of guess and replace it... James

My question is after resetting the 722.6 trans changing the air flow meter, spark plugs, air filter, fuel pump and filter. Ran star scans that show no anomalies Where else should I be looking? Hello! M104.990 1991 year. So, long story short - after buying car 4 months ago, it smelled of unburt gas/running too rich. Changed every component on fuel system (BOSCH fuel pumps, brand new, BOSCH fuel pressure regulator, BOSCH ignition coil, rotor, cap, new sparkplugs). Cleaned the million dollar MAF sensor (it runs the same with MAF disconnected or connected). New spark plugs. Engine idles smooth, no vibrations, misfires. Only thing that worries me - EXAUST SMELLS like it is running... Running rich?

AIRMatic Calibration??

I replaced the rear level sensor because it showed a code saying it was faulty, I assumed that's why the rear end wouldn't raise up properly. It didn't work. The rear end will raise when hitting the raise button, but it's still not enough, and no where near level. The passenger side will raise a little bit more than the driver's side on the rear. The Icarsoft that I have shows similar voltages on the ride height sensors. Does this mean it's time for a STAR calibration? Sent from my OnePlus... AIRMatic Calibration??

How to replace steering delivery line

Hi, I do not see any easy way to replace the delivery line no. 5 in the picture. Any hint please how to access the rear connectro of the line at the steering box? maybe I should raise the engine and I will get enough space around the engine mount? I think i will be able to manage the front connector which comes into steering pump. Thanks.

AC Compressor OIl

I have a 1988 SEC with a 10P17C NIppendenso compressor. It is a 5 piston compressor. I guess you call it a wobble plate. So my project has a rebuilt compressor, new condenser and expansion valve. New lines also. I am flushing the evaporator core as well. I will be using R134A. When I look at the Nippendenso information I get a number of data much of it contradictory. One shows if you use R12 then the compressor needs 2.1 oz and if its R134 then 5.2. So I am a little confused here... AC Compressor OIl

Ran the OBDC on my 94 SL500 and socket 14 indicated a failed O2 sensor (aka lambda sensor). Replaced it today in about 1.5 hours. Strongly advise purchasing the 02 sensor tool from Pelican Parts, its $25 well spent. 1. lift and support front end of car high enough to slide under behind the passenger side front wheel. 2. Locate the 02 sensor just in front of the catalytic converter on top of the exhaust pipe. 3. Cut the wire as close to the sensor as you can to make it easier to access... 2001 G-Class Reverse lights

After installing an aftermarket backup camera to a late model 01' G-Class. Everything worked great when I was finished. I added an aftermarket carplay radio, amplifier and subwoofers and rear camera. Before I started with this install, this vehicle had been hacked into beforehand by those that did not know what they were doing. Where I had to fix so much of their wiring. Inadvertent oil change discovery

I have been chasing performance issues, a rich mixture among other things for years. I decided to see where the O2 wire sensor was going, curious about how it terminates, because I have a spare and was thinking "while I'm under here"... Judging by the corrosion on the female terminal (to lambda), it has been disconnected for years. Nice.

P2311 P2312 B1102 codes Engine cuts out

I have a weird problem going on with my car at the moment. It will start and drive fine, but will randomly cut out for a second or two, it has also started stalling when pulling up to a stop, It will always start again though? When I checked for codes there were none stored! So, I started it up this morning and let it idle whilst looking at a limited feed of live data, all seemed fine, and then the engine just cut out. I was inspecting the area around the trunk battery and noticed this loose line. I did not notice it before since the end was hidden under the bracket. It was connected at one time because the end is stretched like it was on a fitting. There is no obvious connection in that area but I can't see in there well. Before I dig into it, can you tell me where it goes and its purpose? The lower end goes vertically through the bottom sheet metal of the trunk. I am wondering if it is a vent line... I have a Mercedes 220 cdi with a noise that I'm not able to find the source. I've been to multiple mechanics and with their advice I've changed the clutch, gearbox and rear differential. I know the Steering Coupler can cause sloppy steering - i.e. steers like an old Buick A few years ago I replaced the Steering Coupler in my 380SL with a non-OEM part. My 380SL recently seemed to have loose steering and a slight pulling to the right. I thought "oh man, I should have used a genuine Mercedes Coupler". BUT, I got under the 380SL and noted that the right side Tie Rod was the reason. Thankfully I did not have to redo the Steering Coupler - a bitch of a task. If you are not... Looking for some advice and guidance. I'm going to replace front discs and pads, car has 80k on the clock and wondering if I should replace wheel bearings? If so I would appreciate advice on 1 how to remove and replace, online videos would be great! 2 what tools would I need to remove, I've attached picture of kit I've seen online but not sure if this can do both remove and replace 3 who makes the best parts, so many on line, or 4, leave them alone if not sign off wear and just regrease... Cabriolet owners - how do you look after it in the Winter months?

Hi all Cabriolet owners Hi I've got a CLK280 Cabriolet Sport AMG. I'm running it a fair weather fun car and I don't need to drive for work so I'm thinking about how best to look after it over the worst of the Winter months when it'll be driven only occassionally. I've got an all weather cover for it already. I guess when I use that I just wipe the car down dry and put it on. Will the hood develop damp mould/ green slime under it? Power Steering Rack O-rings

Does anybody have a diagram and part numbers for O-rings that are located at the rack gear? I have located a leak from the power steering. Dealer is pointing at the entire rack. But after analyzing it, it looks like its leaksing from the o-rings that 2 rubber hoses and 2 metal hoses are going into. I just messed around with the rubber hoses side, and it looks like it doesnt leak anymore. Metal hoses are deeper and harder to get to. Can we buy those o-rings seperately? If so i will change... Leak on steering rack , W211 E230 2009

Dead members , I have a leak on the pipe lines on the steering rack shown in the picture . The EPC shows a repair kit part number shown in the other picture . Does anyone know what this repair kit include ? Is it O-rings ? Or is it pipe lines with O-rings ? And mainly would it help me with my problem ? Thanks

Weak remote range

Yeah yeah I did my research, stickies has nothing, google-fu just brings up old posts with no real fix. I have a bunch of keys, old gen 1 keys and new chrome keys that I programmed myself. This key works perfectly fine with newer cars and the remote range is perfectly adequate.... in other words, I can unlock any other cars in the parking lot from the second floor of my office, except for my own damn car. Everything works, but I have to be within 5 to 10 feet of the car before the remote... Weak remote range

Stereo upgrade

Hi all. New to the forum after just buying a 2003 combi 110cdi W638. Sorry if this has been done before (looked but couldn't find it)...i want to change out the Pioneer stereo for a newer Alpine. Their both 16 pin but the actual Pioneer plug on loom is bigger than Alpine female. I need an adaptor but can't find one anywhere. Any reccomendations?? Ta muchly!

M103 fuel pressure measurement set-up

Ewee was asking for detail on the fuel pressure set-up. I figured a picture or two are worth a thousand words. The meter in the picture works well out of the box, has all the connectors. Recommended to purchase a few of the small crush washers to replace the used ones. I torqued the plugs to ~7ft-lbs no need to over tighten.

Really Worried! SRS Malfunction, Lane Assist, and No turn signals!!

So when I started my 2012 GL-450 today I first got a warning that my key battery needed to be changed and I had to actually start the car with the key inserted. The next thing I noticed was the "SRS malfunction" message along with the "lane assist inoperable" message. I pulled out of the driveway anyway and suddenly realized 5 minutes later that my turn signals weren't operational either. Neither was the hazard lights. Scratched Windshield Removing Water Spots

Help! I Used Chemical Guys heavy duty spot remover on my 2013 Mercedes S550 windshield to remove hard water spots and it appeared to have removed the water spots, however when driving towards the sun, my windshield now has scratches all over it that makes a glare across the glass. Steering slop, box or coupler?

Hey Everyone, My new 88 560sl showed up today and took it for a quick drive around the block and the steering is way sloppy. I have a good couple inches both directions before it takes. The PO included a steering coupler he bought but never installed so just wondering if something that severe could be the coupler or would that indicate the steering box is the problem? From doing a quick search I'm pretty sure it's the box and maybe the PO was just trying to replace all steering components... Steering slop, box or coupler?

Center armrest won't close...

2008 CLS550. The center arm rest, which must have a fancy mechanism inside which allows it to be opened from one side or the other, but not both at the same time, will not close now. It's open on the driver's side, and the tab at the back is all the way visible. The pins at the front and back (which normally sit inside the holes and which allow the armrest to rotate from the pass side) are also deployed. If I try to push the tab in, I still can't depress the release button on the side to... Center armrest won't close...

Head Pillow for Driver Headrest on S550 W221

To get my head to lay against my headrest when driving, no matter how I adjust the seat, I'm looking at my roof instead of where I'm driving. But if I had a small pillow to place behind my head, between my head and the headrest, it would be perfect to lean my head on pillow and see straight ahead. The time has come, I plan to rebuild my engine as I need to take it out of the car to paint the engine bay. It has a few issues, leaking rear main seal and head gaskets etc, so while it is out of the car I will take the opportunity to carry out a full rebuild. I have also had an issue with a loose valve guide so I will be able to fix this at the same time, on top of this I am sure I am down on power since I installed this engine ten years ago. 2009 ML350 Help needed!

My son's 2009 ML350 intermittently won't start. When the key is in the ignition and turned, there is no sound at all or any attempt to start. This only happens occasionally and eventually the car starts. Sometimes, holding the key in the start position for a minute allows it to eventually start. I'm taking my time with an AC refurb and it's a PITA to keep tucking the cowl under the windshield to close the hood because the car is parked outside. How does the temp sensor looking thing by the cabin air intake come off the wide cowl piece under the windshield? The sensor itself attaches with 2 screws but the cable doesn't have a connector at the sensor end and goes into a loom under the electronics box. Convertible top

Every morning when I start up my 2005 sl500, I get the message "convenience functions temp unavailable" so I cant let my top up or down. Need 4 cheap 14" tires

My $800 R107 (rescue) has 18 yr old Michelins on it. It runs now and drives, getting it to pass smog is the next obstacle. Just need tires on it safe enough to test drive. Still has brake booster issue, vac leaks, exhaust leak at #1, and I sold off the HVAC stuff and rear seats for $1100 to fund it all. It's my pandemic puzzle to keep me busy. Selling frame and top for $700 to fund the rest ( I have a hardtop). I just want to drive it with the top down. Not interested in spending... Need 4 cheap 14" tires

'06 S500 (non-4Matic) Just had new rear tires installed that are a different size than the previous: 275/35 ZR18 (1" wider, 1/2 shorter). Immediately after pulling out of the parking lot the ABS and ESP Malfunction notifications came on. I'm about to plug in the SDS for a look and then put it up on jacks to check wiring. Just had new rear tires installed that are a different size than the previous: 275/35 ZR18 (1" wider, 1/2 shorter). Immediately after pulling out of the parking lot the ABS and ESP Malfunction notifications came on.
I'm about to plug in the SDS for a look and then put it up on jacks to check wiring.

dual snorkel air cleaners

Being one for performance, I was intrigued when my indy mentioned that maybe another snorkel on the air cleaner would be beneficial for this 500 motor. So I looked around and find that some 560's have a factory dual snorkel setup. Now where do I find this setup? Im doing a dual exhaust, so I figured more air in, means more air out. Which equals more power. Not much, but every little adds up. I'm doing away with the catalytic converters so that'll help some. Every little helps. Im not... dual snorkel air cleaners

W220 S430 Heat on high after replacing overhead assembly

Folks. I have broken my HVAC. It worked fine until I replaced the overhead sensor/switch/light unit due to a broken sun roof switch. The symptom is now the fan is on high and full heat. I must admit I did this without disconnecting the battery, so I broke this. (Stupid me) I disconnected the battery and put the original unit back in with the same symptom. I am now looking for help on what I could have broken. Thank you for your help.
