Ran the OBDC on my 94 SL500 and socket 14 indicated a failed O2 sensor (aka lambda sensor). Replaced it today in about 1.5 hours. Strongly advise purchasing the 02 sensor tool from Pelican Parts, its $25 well spent.
1. lift and support front end of car high enough to slide under behind the passenger side front wheel.
2. Locate the 02 sensor just in front of the catalytic converter on top of the exhaust pipe.
3. Cut the wire as close to the sensor as you can to make it easier to access...
