Loose pneumatic line

I was inspecting the area around the trunk battery and noticed this loose line. I did not notice it before since the end was hidden under the bracket. It was connected at one time because the end is stretched like it was on a fitting. There is no obvious connection in that area but I can't see in there well. Before I dig into it, can you tell me where it goes and its purpose? The lower end goes vertically through the bottom sheet metal of the trunk. I am wondering if it is a vent line...
