Round Fog/Driving Lights on R107?

Biggest repair job you've ever tackled on your W201

After my last thread about "Do you work on your own car", I know most of us here on the 201 section are avid DIYers who aren't afraid to tackle most repairs on their own. That got my thinking, what's the biggest/most complex repair job you've ever done yourself? For me it was probably doing a transmission swap on a friend's 2.6. We wound up pulling out the entire engine/transmission out. Second biggest job was probably the M103 head gasket and while I was in there I also did the belt... SRS Fuse Question

My previous posts on this SRS issue didnt lead me to my problem so I wanted to ask a related question. When the SRS light comes on, it seems logical to assume that there is a problem somewhere in that system. My question is: Would the SRS fuse blow if there is a bad airbag, control module, seat belt sensor or child seat sensor? It seems the light would come on to indicate that a fault has been sensed but that alone shouldnt blow the fuse. I would think that the fuse would only blow... SRS Fuse Question

Cylinder 1 misfire

Hi, My Cylinder one misfire situtation is like this. Engine hot or cold it will misfire. Turn engine off and back on it will be ok for a little while. Installed new spark plugs. Swapped coil packs. It did not help. Still shows cyliner one misfire. Did the screwdriver test. Some time it clicks and sometimes not. Any ideas? I would like to know where the respective injector ground wires are at the ECM. Anyone has the fuel injector electrical diagram? Thanks.

W126 SLS v standard rear ride height

Apologies if this query has been previously addressed. I have a 560sel with rear sls suspension and a standard 500sel without sls. It bugs me that the 560sel has a couple of extra cm's clearance extra between the wheel arch and its tire when compared to my 500sel. Question is whether the sls system is supposed to be a little higher than standard rear suspension on a w126.. any insight would be most appreciated. The springs seem all good on the 500. Many thanks....

Stop car too low

I got the stop car too low msg on my 05 e500 4matic sedan. Went home and measured the height - 6.5" in front. 4" in the rear, both sides. Is it unusual for both sides to go down at exactly the same moment? Is this a good clue to the exact problem? Are Arnott shocks the way to go? I rebuilt this car from a total for my wife (she loves looking like a rich bitch which she ain't) 12 years ago so I'm a fair shade tree mechanic. I changed spark plugs (16) a month ago. im a total idiot needing advice about e class mirrors

Hi after a 20 year gap i am now the proud owner once again of a w211 (2004). i got the car cheap knowing that there is a few issues with it, ive fixed the headlight ballast, fixed the door lock and the knocking front suspension which i prioritised to make it safe to drive. today i decided to fix the door mirror that would not fold and the indicator was not working. i looked / searched the forum and decided the problem was likely to be broken wires in the mirror loom. first issue was finding... im a total idiot needing advice about e class mirrors

Upper brake light won't turn off??

Hi Everybody. 2008 GL320 CDI, 90,000 miles. The Upper Brake light(LED bar) and License Plate lights turn on and stay on. The Gl is parked, I click the doors locked on the Remote, and the lights turn off. Then a minute later, the License Plate Lights and the Upper Brake Light turn on. All other lights stay off. If I Click something on the FOB again, everything is back to normal for a minute, then the lights turn on again. I looked for error messages on the multi-function display, but saw... smoke coming out from Power steering pump

Hello Fellow forum members, It's been a while I posted here. '04 S500. Smoke is coming out which looks like power steering pump seals? Starter went out which I replaced and when I started a car, In few minutes there was smoke from under the hood. Don't think there is any relation between two but just wanted to share to not rule out if I made mistake during that repair. Power steering pump is surely needs fluid which was low. nothing on floor so don't... smoke coming out from Power steering pump

Replacement soft close assist vaccum pump 140 800 0848.

I have the need to replace my old soft close assist pump. The part number is 140 800 0848 There seems to be a lot of similar ones around but they do not look the same..and i would prefer to get the identical replacement. any ideas...have check for used but not sure how long they would work.. is there a repairer preferrably in Australia but if all else anywhere... cheers Greg

Can I use 2203000004 TPS from 2002 W220 in 2003 W220 ?

Impulse codes 4, 14?

Bought a 1990 W124 300E last week, check engine light came on today. Checking the impulse counter I got code 4 and 14, but I cannot find where to see what the number of flashes mean as far as the actual problem. Where do I go next, and where can I find the breakdown of the codes for the future?

Dpf regen / engine fan

GLK220cdi, 2010. Hello, can anyone tell me.. While atotmatic / regular DPF regeneration: shall the engine fan / radiator fan go for full speed, or should the fan stay still?? Mine stands still, and i sucpect this is not correct. But i have no codes related to the fan, in motor electronics (xentry). I can run the fan from xentry, it runs as it shall. But the fan simply not start while dpf regen. At my ML350 bt w166, the fan runs very fast / load during the dpf regen. But thats not happen at... Dpf regen / engine fan

SOS TeleAid Malfunction -- Help!

My 2005 CDI and my son's E55 '03 are both getting the SOS TeleAid Malfunction drive to workshop warning. Had my tranny fluid changed and the message was gone for two weeks after the dealer's tech did his diagnostic tests. I was happy! Now it has returned. I don't have the TeleAid service and was told it would cost $118 to shut off the warning. Another dealer told my son it would be $1400 to convert to the digital system to avoid the same warning. 1999 SL500 hood insulation

Bought this car in 2011. Hood insulation was changed out and was not oem original. After a drive on the freeway insulation started to break loose. It was aftermarket foam. So I removed it all and will be replacing with factory M.B. Part 1296802025 pad. My question is there is a lot of old adhesive. i did remove as much as I could without damaging the underneath hood and what did it look like from factory . How much adhesive did they use and in what areas. Thanks for any help as I want to... 1999 SL500 hood insulation

My factory lug bolts are hideous. Threads are just fine, but the bolt heads are rusted and gross. I bought some "chrome" (plastic) lug bolt covers as a quick fix last year, and I've grown to really like the look. I found these on eBay: SET OF 20 12x1.5 M12X1.5 45MM OE STYLE CHROME BALL SEAT WHEEL LUG BOLTS | eBay Under $30 seems hard to pass up, but they are the thing, ya know, keeping the wheel on your car. Anyone have experience with stuff... Cheap lug bolts: yay or nay

W210 Different Door Lock Electrical Connector Problem

I recently picked up a 1999 E55 AMG that had been side-swiped. I then found a 1998 E320 at Pick A Part from which I got driver-side front & rear doors. They fit great and the paint is a nearly perfect match. However when switching out the door locks I found the connectors were different. I don't have the key to the '98 lock and I'm afraid to cut the connectors off to switch as the wires are different gauge and color plus I don't have much length to work with. om642 plastic turbo intake - any source for JUST the boots?

The plastic turbo intake for the om642 is possibly the stupidest design i've ever seen. It should have been made from a single piece of cast aluminum. Is there a source or an alternative for the accordion boots on each end of the intake? On my newly acquired 08 ML320 CDI, they are deteriorated from a former black death issue. i really have no desire to replace the whole thing since the rest of the plastic tube and MAF's are good.

Now, when I do the full cycle, it opens correctly, but after it closes, the windows won't automatically go up like before and the soft top button light blinks. breather hose clips for 1998 SL 500

I recently replaced the breather hoses but I can't find the part#s for the 2 clips that hold the hose in place (right side that attaches to the valve cover and intake). The 2 original clips shattered as I removed the old hose. There is also another clip on the hose for the left side that also broke apart. Not having any luck with search or various parts site. Thanks for any help.

1959 hood latch

Hoping to find someone familiar with a 1959 220s. I recently moved my dads 220s and several of us can not for the life of us figure out how to open the hood. We located one latch on the hoods right side, figured there would be a sister latch on the other side. Wondering if it's just stuck due to age? Any ideas?

right then how do you tune a standard 404 engine for more power ??? 1. can the head be skimmed for more compresion and how much should be removed ?? 2. can the head be ported and polished for same goal ?? 3. what is the most a rebore of the bores can be done to for extra power ?? 4. camshaft change is this posible ?? 5. carborator modds any thing there to be done ?? i am running lpg also so would need to be able to run on this . 6. exhaust manifold modds ??? can anyone help in these areas ... 404 engine tuning ??? help

Possible kickdown mod?

If i rewire the kickdown switch to an external switch so i can downshift when braking, would it work? I know i could move the gear lever down and downshift, but the last time i did that the car went limp mode and got me a little bit scared to do it again.

B-Pillar actuation motor

I am getting a right B-pillar actuation motor error. As far as I can tell, this actuator is located under the left seat. Is this accessible to change by have the seat full forward? Also I am having a tough time finding the part number for replacement. Code is M16/34. Air distribution motor faulty.

Seat control "module"

Hello! So my driver seat needs re-leathering (hole in side). I removed the seat from car and took it home. Wanted to remove as much things in the way as possible, so the "leathering-master" has less job to do. Then I realized that my headrest is all the way down. So I want to make it go all the way up at home, using 12V and cables... ...but there is an issue - the seat control module (1st, 2nd image) has so many pins (1st image) ... which ones control the headrest up and... Seat control "module"

Headliner replaced

Since December when I purchased my SL ,I guess I was so excited that I ignored the sagging headliner..but recently it began to open and throw that nasty yellow foam with glue around and making it impossible to remove from the carpet. Stopped around a few shops and was quoted $300.00.. I was not going to spend that much on a headliner unless it was towards a pano. So I stopped at Jo-Ann's fabric and picked up 1/8 tan headliner material and headliner adhesive for $36.00 Also fixed the vinyl... Headliner replaced

Developed a stumble

I hadn't run Ewy since the deep freeze 10 days ago. started nicely and performed well for 6 of the 7 miles of my circuit. At a stop sign she returned to idle, 5-600 rpm but when I gave it gas she stumbled and almost died. After a moment or so thing smoothed out until the next stop sign. Same issue but took longer to recover. Back in the driveway idle is still 5-600 but a bit rough. Reving up there is the stumble. I am thinking fuel filter. Appears to be original. What do you... The turbo OM352 and other tales of horror. Actually what I am looking for, if anyone has them, are some of the concrete differences between the three flavors of OM352, specifically the intake & plenum systems. All this talk about holset turbos being grafted on has me wondering if MB did anything with the 352 with a turbo like they did with the 617 which has a drastically different intake plenum design over the NA huffer. This of course then leads to thoughts like turbo headers and... OM352, OM352A & OM352LA

Hi all, I am short listing 2014/15 coupes and having got the VINs I am confused by the datacard details. Can’t get steering wheel off

c250 Cold Start Misfire

I have a 2013 c250 160k miles with the M271.8 engine. Hopefully someone here will have an idea! I recently changed my high pressure fuel pump, HPFP, the day after replacing the pump my car would idle really rough and misfire for 45 seconds then itll rev up 1500-2000 rpm and drop back down to right below 1000 rpm. The car doesnt misfrie on any other start just the first one after sitting for over 6 hours and while driving if im cruising at 1500 rpm itll sometimes misfire randomly. C300 center dash area rattling sound

Hi, My C300 (2019 W205) is having this rattling noise (ie. plastic knocking sound) at the centre dash area, near to the windscreen air vent area. The rattling sound is very consistent and loud when driving on any slightly bumpy road or uneven road and going up/down ramps. Am seeking for any advise and resolutions on similar experience and to fix this dash area noise problem? Many thanks in advance!

Low Oil Pressure

Changed the oil recently in my 1989 560sl because it hadn't been changed in nearly 2 years (pennzoil 15w30), completely out of my control because of covid Before I changed it the oil pressure was always just above 2 at idle and shot up to 3 when I was driving, after I changed it using 5w30 quaker state conventional it's now 3 at cold start and when I'm using the accelerator but at idle when it's at operating temperature it slowly goes down to 1.8~. \ (The previous oil was pennzoil... Removing Crank Shaft Bolt M111

What is the proper tool to remove the crankshaft bolt. One looks like it bolts to the flywheel on the transmission and another one looks like it goes below the pulley. I have no experience doing this but mine really needs it. How much torque is needed to put it back on?

New BEHR radiator and loose trans cooler lines

I just replaced my old radiator, it cracked and I Installed a BEHR. The only thing that seems scary are the transmission cooler lines that are really loose even with new O rings. They were so hard to remove them from the original radiator and they were not loose at all. I know there are many threads about this but I am trying to get an opinion on this. I don't want them to snap off while driving or something, I just had MB dealer replace the tranny fluid. EDIT: I pushed the all the way in... New BEHR radiator and loose trans cooler lines

ML320 2002 battery drain from instrument lights staying awake

Hi Everyone, A couple of weeks ago the ML wouldn't start, it hadn't been used for a couple of days. Uncharged the battery and the engine started fine. I noticed that once I had the battery working, when I removed the key the instrument cluster was staying on. The door lights shut off after a few seconds and everything else works on the car. After searching a few forums, I removed compartment kick well fuse for the instrument cluster. This resolved the battery drain, but at the cost of the... I have been using 87 Octane gas in my car for a few weeks now. It runs great - no problems. My owner's manual recommends a minimum of 91. If it runs great, why use premium instead of regular unleaded gas?

Solder connection with high grade 63/37 with RMA Flux only! That is very important - you do not have to remove the conformal coating if you use RMA Rosin Core leaded flux! Don't use cheap or no clean solder they will not work right and create corrosion problem with old solder in the long run for all troubleshooting instructions and how to test... S class ride height - what is the stock height?

Ok fellers, I contribute alot to this site and now need you all to do me a favor and go measure your ride height on your W220 who still have 18 inch wheels and stock height. In the normal lower ABC height position (leds off), with the car parked on a level ground with the engine running in park, what is the height in inches from the ground at the wheel to the top of the wheel arch at the edge of the fender? Left Front = Right Front = Rear Left = Rear Right = Thanks everyone!

R129 Engine Sound: SA 810/97B

Hello all, I've found in the WIS/ASRA that there possibly exists an active noise cancelation system in our cars. My car has the SA code 810, and through the WIS (Which refers to it as 97B) that this has a speaker and microphone system to cancel out the engine sound. I have heard some sort of high pitch speaker tone coming from the back of my car, so I am taking a guess that this is the system, and it might need some work done (previous owner wreaked havoc on the sound system an...
