SOS TeleAid Malfunction -- Help!

My 2005 CDI and my son's E55 '03 are both getting the SOS TeleAid Malfunction drive to workshop warning. Had my tranny fluid changed and the message was gone for two weeks after the dealer's tech did his diagnostic tests. I was happy! Now it has returned. I don't have the TeleAid service and was told it would cost $118 to shut off the warning. Another dealer told my son it would be $1400 to convert to the digital system to avoid the same warning.
