The hydraulic rams (mistakenly called shock absorbers) on cars with SLS have two common failures. These rams are found on the 500e and all US spec wagons. 560sl Dash Speaker How to replace?

Can the speakers in the dash of an 87 560sl be replaced by just taking off the grill that covers it, or do you have to remove the knee bolster to get to it? I've taken out the screws at the bottom of the grill, but the top of the grill is adhered to the dash. Are all grills adhered or is it just mine. I don't want to peel it off if it's not going to gain me access to the speaker. Scratching/clanking metal sound from wheel

I got new tires last week and when my wife was driving the clk350 to work, it randomly starting making this loud high pitched screeching sound from the left side of the car mainly the wheels. The sound goes slightly away when pressing the brake pedal at low speed, but when accelerating from 10mph to 30 something in the wheels is sounding like metal touching metal. Alpine radio front speaker channels not working

Hi all, Recently i've ran into a problem with an Alpine radio where i had a problem where the head unit was only outputting sound on the rear 2 speaker channels, ive checked the amp, it is working, all i hear from the front 2 channels is a quiet static noise.( likely coming from the amp) When I put the fader all they way to the front, zilch, zero, nothing What can I do to fix this?

so my heating and cooling works (i have AC) but it is very hard to adjust which temperatures i want to have. its either hot or cold it seems. sometimes there is some difference but most of the time its either on or off. i have checked the pump that pulls air through the sensor in the overhead panel for electric roof and lights. i have cleaned the sensor in the panel but still the same. the small motor works and i dont know the next step in this treasure hunt. any recommendations? so to sum... unstable blowing air temperatures from climate control

No sound coming from AUX input jack in 2008 W209 CLK 350

My CLK had an old iPhone connector coming through the wall of the glove box. I wanted to use an AUX cable so I purchased one specified for my car. When I took the covers off of the end of the dash by the glove box there was already an AUX jack there which I put through the hole in the glove box liner. The AUX cable was already plugged into the proper connection in the wires that are running along the floorboard by the door. To get the old iPod connector removed from the original hole I... Center Bearing Replacement: Do I need to remove entire exhaust

I'm going to be tackling a center bearing replacement in my 2000 SL600 soon. The repair manual says I need to remove the entire exhaust system. Is that necessary? I got under the car yesterday to take a look, and it looks like I need to break the connections at the exhaust manifolds, which looks challenging in that it's pretty tight up there to get a wrench on the nuts. Any advice? Thanks, John

i'm up in Massachusetts for the summer and I noticed the the car had a pinkish liquid coming out from the bottom of it when parked. I asked a mechanic up here and he said it's the coolant but it looks like my car has two coolant cases. Do you know which one the white one is for? 2017 E400 no start

Hello, I'm more old school MB with a 93 300CE. My son owns a 2017 E400 coupe. The car is immaculate/stunning MB Star car but also frustrating. He came over tonight, parked it, everything is fine. Went to leave and no start. All the lock/un-luck features work, lights come on, etc, but starter button does nothing. Dash says insert key fob. Inserting it into console receptacle does nothing. Main battery voltage was 12.4 volts on my multi meter. We got his other fob and that made no difference... 2017 E400 no start

Then proceeded to drive it daily for decades. 267,000 indicated. Maintained in top shape the whole time. Four tops, a complete reupholster in correct Tex, trans rebuilt, and I put a 33k mi engine in it for him back in 2010. End result, it's about as nice a 380 as I've seen, but what an odometer! Did anyone here buy the Red 06 CL65 on Autotrader a few months back?

There was a very nice 06 CL65 for sale on Autotrader several months ago. The key factor that distinguished it: it was painted Ferrari Red. Black leather/alcantara interior, carbon fiber, all bells and whistles (parktronic, keyless go, distronic). The ad said it was special ordered, 1 of 1, etc. Looked very nice. The car was located in south carolina somewhere. Last I tried clicking on the autotrader link I saved it said the car was sold. I'm wondering if anyone here picked it up.

2005 CLK 500 transmission issue

Hello, I have just bought a 2005 CKL500 last sunday. A few issues have popped up, the main one is the transmission. I had it transported from Calif to Arizona so didn't drive until after purchase.The transmission didn't seem to be shifting correctly but after driving it for a while seemed to clear up. W210 M113 Fan Shroud Removal

This DIY project is starting like so many of mine. What should be simple.... It looks like you have to actually pull the fan/fan clutch assembly off first to remove the shroud - it simply will not pull out of the car - the blades hold it. Is this true? Or is there some insider trick? On my M119 R129 they did it a bit smarter - a 2 piece assembly - the inner part is removed only with the removal of the fan assembly but the main outer part slides right out. Gives you room to work. Just A Small Irritation

Car sits overnight. Turn key until FP runs. Turn to start and engine cranks probably 20-25 times before it starts. I don't try to start it, but do give it a second shot from the FP, it cranks 2-3 times and fires. Not that I mind--I'm not in that much of a hurry. Just wondering if it's the start of a problem.

My mechanic is getting to ready retire and winding things down in his shop. He is and I am also trying to help source a replacement as this part is no longer made for my car. Yikes! HELP!! I need to get things taken care before he closes up shop. I'm in the Los Angeles area. Has anyone had luck replacing with suggested radiator for the turbo diesel with the expansion tank and bracket? 1988 420 SEL (W126) Front End Noise

Almost sounds like bad breaks, but just had brakes changed. Sounds like a metallic rubbing/slicing, especially on turns, noise does continue after turns when driving straight but dissipates. Also just had an alignment. If anyone has any suggestions, please help.

Hi all, I was looking to get a new 2023 Highlander Hybrid and one of my friend to look into the ML or GL my goal is to drive my wife and 2yrs old son around during the weekend and occasional short trip. Hey team! My 1972 280SE 4.5 has gone from totally reliable to shutting itself off after 10-15 miles. It restarts after a short rest and does the same thing again. I've replaced almost everything except trigger points but I thought I would drain the fuel tank first to make sure there isn't trash in the tank. There's a large hex drain plug in the bottom middle of the tank and I don't know if my model has an internal filter. Can someone tell me what size hex driver is needed to remove the plug... Hi My new daily ride is an E55 with 110,000 miles after having enjoyed an E430 4matic for fifteen years (190,000 miles). The m113 has always been good to me. aircon and speakers not working

hi guys, I just bought a w209 coupe that needs a little bit of work. the air conditioning system in the car is completely dead. the lights on the switches turn on for example when I press auto button it lights up but there is absolutely no air coming from any of the fans. also, the infotainment system works fine visually all cd changer and everything works, but there is no sound coming from the speakers. I wonder if it is a fuse or something else in the dashboard that is causing the problem?

I had this in another thread but concerned the title of it won't get to the right people so making a new one. I'm trying to pull out my original radio so I can send it in to Becker. I removed the glove box and took out the screw holding the back corner. I removed the ash tray, unscrew the 2 screws in the back, pull down the front panel, and unhook the 2 clips. Diesel enters into the motor oil in my OM 352 mid 70 model.

I have a nice mid 80 Mercedes OM 352 in my boat. Had it for 27 years after some years in a small bus. I guess a total hours of running to less than 4000 hours and mostly running at less than 1800 rpm. Had the injectors out last year for check/test and seemed OK for pressure opening as well as spread pattern. Used the old copper seal for injectors after heating them, regret that but have not observed any problems at all before replacing motor oil after some 100 hour running. Oil is not... Hi Fox The amplifier in the car is dead, and cannot be repaired (OEM-A2219004302). Interested in purchasing one, but there are several similar amplifiers, and I don't know which model would be suitable to replace the original amplifier. I have attached a photo of the vehicle's technical specifications. Does anyone know which amplifier is suitable to replace the A2219004302? It is really urgent. Thank you!

Electrical Drain 2002 E320

Battery drain started at random about a week ago. No problem starting multiple times during the day but when it sits overnight it drains the battery to the point where it will not start. Battery, starter and alternator checked out well. Ideas?

HELLO! Newbie, new to me project 1988 560sl where to start!!!

Good evening everyone! New member here. Well I did it, I have always loved the r107 looks, never had a Mercedes before. Have many cars and projects throughout the years and currently though. So, saw a beautiful 1988 560sl at an estate sale. 163K miles I took a couple of pictures in passing. I will attach. Better pics when I get it home. Put in a bid and got it for $7700! It's been sitting for a few years. Tags are 2009. Garage kept always. History... just prior to the auction they threw... HELLO! Newbie, new to me project 1988 560sl where to start!!!
