Help! testing cold start valve

I have 12volts at electrical connection, now need to see if its spraying gas, have it in a glass jar but don't want engine starting on me, what's the safest way to disable ignition for testing ? its on my 1991 500SL M119. Thanks!

Brownish coolant smug sitting on top

Checked my coolant this morning and found this? Any ideas, been looking online and it says it could be a head gasket leak. No overheating so far, getting it checked out tomorrow though.

ML 320 CDI circuit 15 going to ground

Bit of History .2006 ML320 CDI W164 Stopped at shop, came out full ignition lights but no glow plug and no crank. Tried spare key cranked and started but cut out within 5 seconds then no more start Once recovered home ,connected icarsoft V3 dedicated scanner ,found no communication with powertrain modules but checked all others .The only fault found was rear SAM code 9097 ( circuit 15 relay missing or short or open circuit) . Checked all fuses and relays found no switched voltage to relay KH... ML 320 CDI circuit 15 going to ground

Coolant Hose for 98 M119 No Longer Available (Back of engine, driver's side through firewall)

Yesterday a small coolant hose at the back of the engine (driver's side) that goes through the firewall split. Had coolant exploding all over the place, low coolant warning, etc. I shut the car down quickly and had it towed to my indy. He called this AM and told me Mercedes said that particular hose is "no longer available". Have any of you run into this and found a solution? He's working on fabricating something, but I'm trying to help find a solution, and others may find themselves in... Windshields Not Available

Just got back from my windshield installer, front windshields (at least non MB) are not available for my 1997. They get their windshields from Pilkington and some other generic sounding warehouse. No deal. Covid related shortage, apparently. I did not ask about the non-sensor version, which could potentially be installed in a pinch possibly, but this is pure speculation and not something I would do unless the existing windshield was cracked. As is, the windshield is passable, I just... Windshields Not Available

I've not been able to find the combination of color and options I'm looking for in any dealership inventory nearby. I'm also not able to wait for a custom order delivery since my current car is not in drivable condition. Well crap. P0016 and P0017 and it's just plain worn out with 272k on the clock. Found 2007 m272 2.5 with 42k miles to put in the old gal. Question for the Community: What items should I replace when I have the engine out of the car? Oil pan gasket is nothing but the "Right stuff" sealant, there is no "gasket" to buy Rear main seal is a given along with the front crank seal, already ordered. 74 406 Doka Tug Turn Signal Help

Hello Mog Friends, My 74 406 Doka tug has a few issues around the turn signal stalk/wiring or relays. I have checks a few grounds, verified the light bulbs are good. checked the fuses. swapped out the blinker module under the dash, with still no success. Just wondering if there is a set of fuses or something else I am missing. Does the stalk wiring go to one of the connector blocks under the hood by the fuses? 1986 300SE 5 Speed

Recently inherited my father's 1986 300SE 5 Speed. He has it pretty well taken apart, was working on some issues. Not sure what to do with it. Mostly just looking to see if it's a desirable enough model and year to find someone interested in rebuilding it. My understanding is the 5 Speed is less common. Any advice greatly suggested. Will update with pictures.

2020 V-Class - Terrible road noise? - Are they really that bad?

Hi Folks, New member here based in Dublin. My wife and I recently purchased a 2020 low mileage V250d. We have had it for approx 4 weeks. Its a family car. However, my wife now wants to trade it in again due to the terrible road noise. She came home yesterday in it with ear plugs on! We previously had a 2014 E-Class estate (with 200kms on the clock) which was so much quieter than this V-Class. The road noise is fine on extremely good new Road surfaces. But once the surface becomes anyway... 2020 V-Class - Terrible road noise? - Are they really that bad?

Body Shop Recommendations

Hi guys, looking at buying a W123 and I've found a really nice 230e but the only problem is there's an area of corrosion around the rear windscreen that will need attention. CLS oil coming out from engine

Hello, I have CLS350 219 MODEL. with 314.000km the engine started oil leaking from crankcase breathing caps. I changed all three caps 1 month ago with new ones but again started oil leaking. What's the problem, what do I must check, oil separator or car is blowing by and has high compression in the engine may be due to the piston fault? Thanks

Gearbox shudder in 7g with thermo fans running at high speed e250cdi

Hi Guys n Gals I get this extremely slight shudder when driving at 30-40kmh It is mostly at this range that this occurs,sometimes it can happen on the freeway feathering the throttle as well. It happens whether im accelerating, or holding a constant speed and it does get worse when under load or up a hill with the car stalling previously. There are no other problems with the vehicle at all. the gearbox is serviced every 40k. When it happens the thermos kick in on high speed indicating the... command intermittently turning on and off

Howdy As above, the command system in my 2014 e250cdi keeps turning on and off happens first thing when selecting reverse to back out of my driveway and will then intermittently keep doing so!! ive pulled the fuse of for 30 mins but had no effect, so out of ideas!! does anyone have any experience with this issue? Hirshman 481

The 82 380 Has a Hirshman 481. My 73 had an aftermarket unit. Anyone have any hot idea about the pin connections on this unit? It is 5 wire, 1,3,5,2,6. Someone must know how to function test this thing and perhaps wire it into the system when I get to that point.

Stop the beeping...

Got a 99 C230 Kompressor.. Today, the brake light came on and it seems to think that something is really wrong since it beeps when the car is in motion. As soon as you come to a stop, the beeping stops..start moving again..it starts again. I can't get in to the shop until Wednesday and I can't drive the car for any period of time with is beeping all the time.. I did find that it stops when you take the instrument panel fuse out but that is really not ideal since I drive on the highway... Stop the beeping...

managed to find a w124 300e and proceed to take the ezl harnesses and the ezl to my 126 and it works smoothly i just connected the TD signal, Ground, Switched 12V in the terminal and the Ign coil term 1 i didnt connect the sensor inputs the EZL is a Siemens w5wk6 147 prt no= 0800 545 64 3 i will upload pics and video later . IoR9rfJ0S6Y&

New to the MB family (almost)

Hello, I'm new to the forum but have been poking around for a while as I'm considering a 1998 SL500 (R129) that needs some TLC. I'm no stranger to wrenching on vehicles but it's not my day job. I'm looking forward to a vehicle I can enjoy while maintaining it on my own and teaching my boys the fun of getting some grease on their hands. Definitely hoping to avoid a money pit... Hi new member here about to tackle balance shaft replacement on my wife's 2006 E350. I wanted to repaint my code 040 jet black hood to me 2003 e320, but I don't want to damage the trim, how do you remove i, can't find any YouTube tutorials on it so far! I think the windshield wiper sprayer notches are attached and don't want to get those disconnected? thanks guys!

Ride Height Adjustment

I'm sounding out these magnificent vehicles, with the intent to get one for myself, and have a quick question. Can the ride height be manually adjusted while the car is moving, for instance as it's coming up to a speed bump? I ask because the handbook I was studying wasn't very specific about the ability to do that, and gave me the impression the car had to be stationary. Battery Mess

Checked battery few weeks ago. Battery just short of four years old. I have noticed corrosion buildup at negative post. Rinsed it with water and baking soda and looked again few days later. Again buildup of crusty stuff. Pulled battery out. Not good. Tray, cables behind battery infected. It has developed a leak at negative post. Cleaned corrosion. 2006 G500 front wiper

i have a 2006 G500 for some reasons the front wiper does not work followed all the wirings are ok the wiper motor is ok when i check for power on the wires from the front sam to the wiper motor i dont have power but when i actuate the wiper with my scantool it works does anyone here have an idea whats going on. Remove '95 C-280 Headlight Switch

I removed the bottom panel on the drivers side but cant figure out how to remove the headlight switch or the panel that it is in to replace it on a 1995 C-280. Does anyone know how to remove the switch to replace it?

A couple years ago I picked up my first MB - a beautiful low mileage 1985 380SL and joined for forum. That cars has been a dream to own and I'm considering doubling down in this MB lunacy. I know an MB matchmaker of sorts who is offering a 2008 s550 RWD from cali, 1 owner with 115k, I don't think it is highly optioned as I get the impression that the original owner was a little frugal. This car looks beautiful... Considering a 2008 S550. Thoughts?

New Rims 16"

I need new tires and I was thinking of swapping to the 16" rims from the 96-99 E-class. I think I like the look better and at only 16" it should not impact the ride quality. Anyone have these? Maybe share a photo with them? I have attached a photo of the ones I am looking at. They seem pretty reasonable on ebay for a reman set.

GLK vs Honda CRV

I've been looking at GLK's for some time now, but when I read all the posts about DPF/adblue and other problems it's kind of puts me off and I started looking at other options, especially the Honda CRV. I've never driven one or the other but the GLK looks more premium and probably more comfortable and capable off road. Has anyone had a similar experience and then opted for CRV.

Coolant Leak

Hey guys, 1994 C280 coolant is leaking off of the oil pan. It drops off of the oil pan. No overheating, no coolant in oil and no oil in coolant. Leak just started, seems to have started right after I got an oil change. Anyone know what this could be due to? Car has 218,000 miles

I have a 2012 Mercedes W246 with an original small display. I want to adapt this to a large original MB display. I bought a display of a year of construction 2018. To connect this, another 8-pin plug had to be changed that has a different shape. Only 4 cables are used on the old 8-pin plug. I transferred the cables exactly like this to a new 8-pin plug in the same place. Unfortunately this won't work. I have now put the old plug and display back. But now the display won't work. I can drive it only if i give gentle gas, when its at 3000 rpm i need to give less gas than before only then it passes 3000 rpm. I hope its clear, if not questions are always welcome.

Hello guys! After many years of owning an almost new BMW E30 (1988, 64K kilometres), I finally saw the light(!) and decided to shift to a Mercedes W201. After almost a year of searching I finally found an immaculate green 190e 1.8 with only 17K kilometres. The car owner is an old gentleman, who bought it back in 1990, and then decided that he didn't need a car. So, he parked it in a closed garage, and for all those years he gets it out every week for a 2 blocks ride, washes it and drives... To buy or not to buy?

Induction & Shifter. Just a little update (on my previous thread '98 C230 Kompressor (manual) Sport ) Decided to enclose the CAI, basically put a lid on it instead of it sealed against the underside of the hood. This has reduced noise from the S/C which is exactly what I wanted but not hindering inlet air flow. The two inlets still remain, 75 and 52 mm. It took more time than I anticipated - an... C230 Kompressor. Ported S/C.

So I picked up this 1998 S320 long wheel base not long ago. Low km's at 92,000km's on the clock. Full service history at local MB Dealership it was delivered to. Couldn't let it pass with the condition it has been kept in. One owner, grandfather passed it onto grandson who decided to 'do it up' with a Eaton supercharger and associated 'upgrades' which I have since removed. Had to changed fuel pump, injectors and ecu back to original. I like my car's stock so it wasn't my cup of tea. Still... A couple pictures of my latest W140 acquisition

It's been sitting out of Turo for almost an year now because of the wave recall. OTA update not been received and the recall still remain in my vehicle. I went to the dealership they said it's not their responsibility to do the recall as it's done by OTA. Then I called Mercedes and they said they can't do anything because the software is from some other company 🤯 what exactly I should do? I couldn't believe such a big company treating this just like nothing and they don't have solution.

New member here figured I'd post this small project up if it might help others restore dull headlights. Did this early December still holding up great! Before: Used Griots Garage Ceramic Headlight Restoration kit available at local parts store for about $30. Added buffing with Meguires medium and fine cut cleaner and swirl remover with Makita buffer.... Step 1 mask off lights and apply oxidization remover included in kit. Also machine buffed with...
