I've noticed on more modern vehicles the heat shielding extends around the compartment, not just around the false firewall and transmission area, but along the fuel/fluid hard lines and along the lower unibody sections (the areas badly affected by heat/temp changes over the years, ie flaking paint and rust). Some vendors like Car Builders (Australia) offer aluminum sheet (in the modern textured style) you can form and cut to mount as you see fit. Without drilling new holes in the unibody...
