1996 S320 Starting Issue

Hello to all.....looking for guidance in troubleshooting my brother-in-law's low mileage 1996 S320. I have zero MB experience though I have a lot of informal hours wrenching on VWs, BMWs, Subarus, etc. The vehicle is not currently in my possession, but at his brother's (another BIL) about 15 miles from my home. It was trailered there after a local indie was unable to fix it.
