ECU powers down radio on 1998 SLK 230 - do you have a fix or schematics?

My 1998 SLK 230 radio power gets shut off by the ECU when I turn on my lights. The blinking anti-theft indicator LED even disappears. The ECU apparently has some kind of algorithm that requires several starts with quality power before it turns the radio back on, so now I don't have a radio at all. Clearly, the ECU is monitoring the 12V line and when it sees it drop, it turns off "unnecessary" items. It shouldn't turn off the radio when the lights come on (it didn't used to for 25 years), so...
