DIY Tune Up 1997 E320

My trusty E320 has 156,xxx miles on it and yesterday after Mother's Day lunch the valet pulled the car up and the dreaded CEL was on with the "check engine elect" dialog. This has happened before and it was a loose gas cap. Well the gas cap seemed to be on correctly but there was wet gas around the cap seal and on the "flap" so I tightened the cap back on (still not sure on the OE cap whether to turn it all the way or until the first "notch" where the writing would be parallel to...
