Get a basic OBD2 interface/scanner or something more powerful?

I bought a 2009 ML320 Bluetec in the spring and have really enjoyed it (and it tows like a champ). When I got it, it would sometimes go into limp mode and I discovered that it was due to issues with the swirl flaps or swirl flap motor. I did the resistor bypass and it worked like a charm - solid, consistent performance and no more limp mode. The problem is that I now have perpetual codes for P2004 and P2005 telling me that my swirl flaps are stuck open (I know - that's what I wanted) and...
