So I replaced my valve cover gasket and also the valve cover from a junkyard m103. When the car would sit overnight I would get a loud clacking sound for a few seconds while then it would stop. Plus I would get a burnt oil smell in the cabin when the ac was running. I felt around the gasket of the valve cover and felt no leaks.
But when I put the old cover back on with the new gasket - problem and smell gone.
I only used the junkyard valve cover because it gave me time to clean and paint...
