Erratic temperature gauge needle

As stated , temperature gauge fluctuations are erratic and especially worse in hot weather. A solution from the w140 forum was to solder the ground elements at the three points on each gauge. Can someone explain this further how this would be done on the w124 gauges? I have exactly the same symptoms and when I tap the dash the needle resets (sometimes) Already wiggled and cleaned the engine temperature gauge connector and put di electric grease on same bouncy bouncy until tappy tappy on...
