Are 123 and 126 wheels interchangable?

Can I use wheels from my W126 on my W123 ? Should I assume the wheel offset and effect on steering will be essentially the same? Although the original Bundt-cake aka Mexican Hat wheels were 14"x 6J or 6-1/2J; I actually have later model 15" x 7J '8-hole' style wheels that have an ET25 offset that were designed to be used with 205/65 HR15 tires on my W126 300SD. They worked perfectly well on the W126. I realize that to maintain the same speedo accuracy and handling characteristics... Are 123 and 126 wheels interchangable?
