I have an E46 that makes a tapping or clicking noise when under load and only when engine is on an incline. If I start it with engine facing downwards it's silent. No performance issues, car drives good. Just an annoying sound when driving that can be heard bouncing of walls and stuff. Seems to be coming from where the engine joins the transmission
