I'm curious if anyone here has experience with adding aftermarket parts to your insurance policy. After having a chat with my buddy about my new wheels he suggested adding them to my insurance policy so they're covered and I don't end up with issues if I need to file a claim. Never really gave much thought about that until he brought it up. I don't care much about lower priced mods like carbon fiber aero mods or most aesthetic purchases. My biggest concerns are my M Performance Exhaust and HRE wheels. The MPE was bought directly from a dealer and I have the invoice. The HREs were bought off someone on FB don't have any receipts for that besides PayPal transaction. Anyone know if I need original receipts to get the HREs covered? Is adding the HREs even worth it or would I be better off just buying new wheels if something ever happens? I believe the ones I have run about $600-$700 a wheel. The MPE I most certainly want to add because there's no way I would buy another one if gets damaged. I have geico and tried to look up information on any custom parts and equipment coverage but couldn't find anything online.
