Chassis Number Database

In the 1960s and 1980s I owned a Mercedes. I would love to pass along what little information I have to those who maintain a database so they might know a little more about the cars they now own. Thank you, Joe

Rims leaking

I have two sets of rims for our E320. Alloys of different designs. I gave up on the original set because one wheel always leaked down. I switched to second set of MB rims a while ago and now one of those has a slow leak. When we get a new set of tires, I will probably go back to the original rims. And maybe use the spare in place of the worst rim. Anyone had any luck getting leaky alloys properly repaired?

No heat

i have a e320 wagon 2001 4matic I have a strange problem. I changed my heater control value. I've changed my thermostat. I still have no heat. I have no clue what else could be the problem. The lower hose is cold. My heat blows out cold air. Any suggestions? I was thinking water pump and aux water pump next.

Should I replace both upper and lower timing chain guides along with the tensioners?

1981 380 SLC with 118K on the speedometer but have no way of knowing actual mileage. Car has sat in CC storage since 2004. It was upgraded to Dual row chain by a PO.. My mechanic suggests replacing upper guides and leaving the lowers as is unless they "look bad". After having lost a motor on a previous 107 with a single row chain I favor being safe and replacing the lowers also. Thoughts from people more knowledgeable than me appreciated. Thanks

Warm Up Necessary?

In the cold northern climate here in MN, I have not been doing any real warm up of the 00 E430 before driving. I usually start her up, wait for idle down from choke, then drive away gently. No wind up or hard acceleration til the temp needle starts moving up from 40. A fellow MB owner tells me I am doing it wrong, should let it idle 10-15 minutes (or more) until the car is at operating temp before driving off. Supposedly causes less engine wear than driving cold. Is this correct? I was of... Warm Up Necessary?

rear windshield washer not working

my 05 limited has the rear windshield washer feature and it is not spraying washer fluid. The front windshield washer is working fine and there is plenty of washer fluid. I did check the washer line where it connects by the passenger side tire , and it is connected , so i don't know what to do from here.
