Replacement COMAND screen?

There's a half inch across dead pixel zone in the center of the non-HK non-nav COMAND screen. I don't use COMAND other than selecting AUX and setting volume but it's annoying to see the black spot. What should I look for in a good used COMAND unit (e.g., year, options) for simplest replacement? Is there coding involved?
