In the secret world of tuning where no one shares any info, I came across this about the Ford Focus RS (but the concept applies to the SLK).
The Focus uses a turbo & wastegate, and the SLK uses a supercharger & bypass valve.
The car made around 300ps, and even after mods it still made the same power as the wastegate was being opened as the airmass limit was being hit.
The only way to fix it is via chiptuning or to modify the MAF signal. In his case, he added a restistor to the MAF signal...
