I have a 1979 450sl with 130K miles. My drivers side door handle moves freely inside and out but does not open the door, and locking and unlocking this same handle with the key does not have an effect on opening the door either. Presumably it is some malfunction of the handle itself and not the door lock (I am reluctant to put in a new and different lock for obvious reasons). Can the handle function be repaired with salvage door handle internal parts (and keep the same drivers' side lock...
