Battery red light/aux

I got the red battery/visit workshop light coming on occasionally. I know the main battery is about 2 years old. I just took a look at the aux and I'm wondering if the "04 09" stamped is the date. I'm going to take it to have it checked, but vehicle off it's just putting out 12v. If that's the date I would guess that's likely the problem.
