04 sl500 engine oil dipstick

New to me 04 SL500. I have not delved under the hood yet, and I am looking for the easy way out to find WHERE I can insert one of these aftermarket engine oil dipsticks. Do I remove the engine plastic cover and find it somewhere there? Also, there are numerous dipsticks advertised on EBay, but are they all correct if they say they will cover the 04 SL500? Do I need to calibrate one of these? I saw that some of the ads show millimeter markings on the blade. Thanks.
