Serpentine Belt, siezed ac compressor. What length to bypass?

So ac compressor seized. 3 mechanics, one auto part store, and a parts geek customer care rep advised me under no circumstances to get the cheap compressor or the rebuilt, or I will be dead in water again. (been down over a month), all of these people also agreed you can't bypass the ac compressor pulley. I was using my Google-Fu and found a thread, with what I though was one person with W251, 2008, R-Class, post they did it. I also vaguely remember a belt length for the bypass.. So I get...
