1997 210 E300D - Persistent P0300 ODB code for no reason

I've been getting regular appearances of a P0300 "injection circuit" (?) code on my cheepo ODBII reader for years now. The car runs smoothly, does not falter or misfire but regardless of how many times I've cleared the code, it reappears. I'd keep on ignoring it, but it does seem to be getting -more- persistent. It used to take a week or more for the code to reappear, lately it's (and the CEL) back in a few days.
