Installing original Sat Nav unit

Hi, Recently acquired a 1999 ML430, and originality always appeals to me. Would like to install an original 'luxury' model Audio / Sat Nav unit in the form of part number A163 820 04 86. My questions are: 1. Is the unit compatible? 2. Can I update maps so the Sat Nav will function in Australia? 3. How complex is the installation (any guides available?) 4. In relation to points 2 and 3, I would be willing to forgo the Sat Nav function if it ensured compatibility / installation. 5. Best... Installing original Sat Nav unit
