Brake boosters. New, used or refurbished?

In a previous thread I was troubleshooting a braking issue in a rather convoluted fashion.. it turns out my booster needs replaced. I am not confident in going the used route, and new boosters are not cheap. I am seeing them between $500-$800, which is way out my budget. Are refurbished ATE boosters an option? Is there an company making aftermarket boosters that fit the 380? I saw a thread here wherein someone successfully rebuilt their booster, which is not something I am opposed to... Brake boosters.
