ML320CDI Command module failure to eject nav.disc

I have a 7/2008 ML320CDI 'Edition" model, the command module won't let me update the Date. I'm told that the Nav. disc has to be inserted but I find that it is already in. When I press the eject button it says: "This function not available at this time" hence I can't eject the disc. All other functions seem to work ok. Any thoughts on this problem
