Annoying vibration solved

As a new owner of an otherwise immaculate 2003 sl500 with 94,000 klms I was a little unsure of what to expect in the way of the ride and sound deadening. I found the car felt a little harsh and had a vibration from the rear. My first reaction was the left side exhaust was touching somewhere. when i bashed the tailpipes there was a slight buzz from the left one but it didn't appear to be touching anywhere.
