Rear View Mirror Spotlight question

Hi and Happy Holidays, I searched briefly but... I have a 2 year old C250 and there are 2 rough circles on the underside of the rear view mirror. One of them seems to act as an internal light that illuminates the COMAND knob and surrounding area. My question is, should both areas be lights as only 1 is currently lit, and other than the internal dim switch are these lights controlled by anything, i.e. can I turn them/it off? There's nothing in the manual user-guide that I can find... Rear View Mirror Spotlight question
