Rough Startup/Vacuum Issue 1979 450SL

Can anybody help me identify this part? And it's function? I am not sure, but I think it is the "Thermo Valve 50degree" and part of the engine vacuum system. It is in the front of the engine near the WUR and screws directly into the manifold, it appears. It has two vacuum lines coming out of it. It has broken off with the majority still inside the manifold. My symptoms are - very rough cold start, car warms up after a minute or two and runs like a brand new engine. I'm not the...
