Am I Missing A Step?

Hi there. Hope all is well. I just inherited a 2004 Mercedes SLK 320 and it's an absolute gem. However there is one thing I can't quite figure out. In other vehicles you typically get the trunk cover extended to the right position, click the convertible button towards you to retract the top, and hold it until the top is tucked away. On this one the roof won't retract even though the motors sound like they have all the energy in the world. I think I'm missing a step. I'm embarrassed... Am I Missing A Step?

However there is one thing I can't quite figure out. In other vehicles you typically get the trunk cover extended to the right position, click the convertible button towards you to retract the top, and hold it until the top is tucked away.

On this one the roof won't retract even though the motors sound like they have all the energy in the world.
